How long does a jar of raspberry jam stay good for after opening?

I have a pretty old jar of raspberry jam... I'd guess 6+ months in my fridge. It LOOKS okay. I got it from trader joe's, so I doubt it has any incredible preservatives in it.

Safe to eat? It's half-full! I'm just curious. I'm probably going to throw it out anyway, jam is so cheap.

Six months is probably not even approaching its expiration dates. Most commercial jams and jellies last many years as long as they're refrigerated. The package should have a date on it.

It is fine until you see stuff growing in the jar. Then you could probably just scrape off the top layer and eat it anyway.

I agree with this, however you probably shouldn't let your girlfriend/wife/s.o. see you eating it else you'll probably get the hairy eyeball.

Sadly this one does not. Sometimes Trader Joe's products are a little... gourmet? Is that the word I'm looking for? In any case, this jar does not have an expiration date.

Anything as high in sugar as jam is good for more than just six months in the fridge, more like years. It's fine.

just use separate knife with jam and other spreads and it'll last ridiculously long
and yea high sugar, sucks the moisture out of any microbe killing it dead:p

Honestly, he may have. He was passed out face down on the guest bed this morning. I didn't bother checking his pulse, cause I figure, the worst that happens is I have a body to dispose of, and I already know how to do that.
