How long do your <$30 headphones last?

Headphones seem to last about 6 months for me. No matter how much I pay I have to buy 2 pairs a year. Sometimes they just stop working, other times one side goes out, sometimes they just start getting static.

I have the Koss KSC50s and they've lasted me at least 6 months now. Granted I don't use them everyday, but I treat them pretty well when I do carry them... bought them for a trip to Cancun and loved them right off the bat.

I have some Koss PortaPro that I spent $25 on and have yet to break; if they do break, they have a lifetime warranty, so it's no big worry.

I only use headphones at night when my family asleep.

I have an Audiobahn wireless headphones that I bought in Circuit City during the Black Firday sales. It's $20 dollars after rebate, and my rebate just came back last week, so it's all GOOD! :) :)

they usually have some flaw that makes me so pissed at them that i destory them in a fit of rage. (cord too short and yanking my head, crappy sound, etc).

i wish i had the balls to wear my sennheiser 580's around outside the house.

I have some cheap Sony one's (MDR-CD180) that I got for about $20 at BestBuy. They have lasted me about 2 years now. They are starting to show their age.. but they are still strong.

I've had my Sony Eggos D22 for 2 years now. Besides the wires being a little tangled, it's still running strong.

those are the best you can get under. $30. those and the koss ksc35s will basically slaughter anything under $50. get those if you want to save your $$$ because they wont break for a lonng time. if you want to make a long term investment go pick up a pair of shure e2cs for <$100 and those will last you years with great entry level audiophile sound.

Koss KSC50 lasted me a year, and I still use the bad pair at school. It has a scraping/rattling sound with bass, and is kinda gunked up from constant use over a year (probably 3hrs a day). New pair sounds great, both fit well, $20.

Well it's nice to see that I am not the only one who regularly breaks/wears out headphones. I'm off the best buy/CC to buy another pair. I will definitely take some of the advice on the models above. Thanks to all who participated in the poll.

Still goin' strong. Three years or so, so far. They're Sonys of some variety.
