I'm hitting my ThinkPad T40 with Prime95. Up for 2.5+ hrs no problems. Machine is only warm. How long do you test for?

Why do you need to stress test an IBM laptop?

Anyways, I run it for minimum 12Hrs.

I just want to see how well the i855PM/Pentium-M platform holds up under continuous CPU load and memory access. So far it seems to be doing great. Just passed the 3 hour mark with no problems.

What is the prime 95 for?! is it a benchmark, or what? Is this like the h/w test utility? I've always used good ol' Q2 for this, in software mode.

It doesnt necessarily mean that your CPU or memory isnt stable, it could have been a buggy driver or program that caused it.

I have to remove the shim from my Duron... I brought up the torture test from shutting down in 1 minute to 5, then 15, now 30 - just by fan adjustments. I still get overheating in the torture test though... I have good reason to believe the Shuttle Shim is the culprit. I'll remove it soon and post back. If you guys can go for hours, my Duron-powered Shuttle SK41G should too! :(

After driver updates and patching ... Prime95 looping in the background, and Q2 software mode to hammer the remaining free RAM and cycles.

Twenty-four hours.

Customers systems must be rock-stable.
