Until they have holes.

I have a T-shirt from the Rolling Stone's Steel Wheels tour, still no holes.

Any where from 2-5 years depending on how they hold up, then trashed.

Until the color starts to fade or there are stains or some other damage. I started my wardrobe from scratch like 1 1/2 years ago and so far haven't thrown anything own. Some black T-shirts are starting to look faded. Guess I will get rid of those or use them as sleepwear.

Lots of collective AT redemption here.

Seeing that everyone is driving Ferraris, living in multi-million dollar homes, and banging supermodels, it is nice to know that at least we all wear our T-shirts until they are but strands of cotton.

I recently retired my oldest shirt as it was completely worn out. I got it in high school and it was from 2001.

I would say that my shirts last 5-7 years before they become shop rags. During that time frame they progress from regular wear, to weekend wear, to shop wear, to shop/stain rags.

Mine only last about 6 months. I don't generally own a lot of clothes, so what I have gets worn a lot and wears out fast. I hate clothes shopping.

I still have some dress shirts from 10 yrs. back. They fit, still look good, I love them. Others last a couple of years at best.

I just commented to my wife that I have 3 dress shirts I've worn for 10 years now. They still look pretty good :)

For t-shirts, whenever my wife throws them away. I still have some from HS. Most of 'em are in bad shape, so they're for working around the house or cooking.

Dress shirts tend to last me about 5-7 years. I stick to Brooks Brothers non-iron shirts, since they last a very long time without fading or having the non-iron-ness wear off. I try to buy a few each year when they go on clearance or they run a good sale (meaning 30+% off, like the semi-annual sale stacking w/ corporate discount). If you can get 'em for around $50 a shirt, it's a steal, but at their normal $70 or so, still a tremendous value. No dry cleaning, and they last forever.
