How long do you keep your contacts in?

My contacts are bi-weekly. However, I find it to be such a hassle to take them out every night, so I have started leaving them for extended periods of time (weeks on end, until they get unbearable). In doing this, I save contact solution, don't have to buy contacts as frequently, and I never lose them anymore. Does anyone else wear their contacts forever?

Dependent upon the type of contacts worn, this practice can be terrible for one's eyes. It can rob one's eyes of oxygen, and result in all sorts of eye related maladies.

I have biweeklies too and I tend to keep them in for a couple of days at a time. Just had my yearly checkup and didn't have any problems. I would suggest that if you plan on keeping this practice up, see if you can switch to Nite and Days, they are supposed to be much better for that kind of wearing since they are much more gas premeable. I still have a couple months worth of the regular ones left to go so after that I'm planning on trying to switch.

Yeah, at my checkup I was told that my eyes were fine. Of course my doctor did advised me not to wear them for longer than a full day, but there are definitely times when it's easier to put them in and forget about it. Nite & Days definitly sound like a good idea, though... thanks for the info.

Great and the money you'll be saving on contact solution, you'll be using towards future eye surguries from the damage you've done to your eyes. Leaving your contacts in for more than a day is really not good at all.

But then again they are YOUR eyes.

Daily, because I had a corneal ulcer once, and any long term wearing creates a good risk of a repeat infection :(
