How long did the president's inauguration last?

don't u mean way too f'ing long for that stupid f'ing bastard that managed to win the election and spend more time and money in vietnam part deux?

It was 6 hours on NBC. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. I taped the whole thing, and fast forwarded through the boring parts.

Heh, I'm such a huge nerd that I actually wanted to watch Tim Russert talk. 😉

Maybe it's just because I'm in the DC area and thus it's a local event, but it seems like this inauguration was a lot more lavish and got a lot more coverage than inaugurations past.

I think it was FDR, one of his inauguration parties consisted of... a tea party.

I say we hearken back to the days of Andrew Jackson, the U.S.' very own Indian Fighter, when inauguration revelers trashed the White House.

🙂

That was FDR's last inauguration. He had a small party at the time because he was ill (he died just a few months later). His previous inaugurations were full blowouts...during the height of the depression no less.

Wrong. $$$ wise it was in line with all previous inaugurations when you account for inflation.

DC (DC area) made out like a bandit on the inauguration.

Yup. Hotels were in huge demand and short supply for example. Rooms were going for 5 times their base cost and more. The entire service industry (restraunts, hotels, bars, etc) in DC made out well.
