I shut our kitty in the fridge for hours at time, she comes out a bit cold and unimpressed but otherwise fine. I'm training her for the freezer netxt.

Might as well train it to get you a nice cold beer while it's in there.

 I'll get right on it 😉

Sounds like all is good with kitty. A little food, and most importantly some water, and he should be good.

Heck, as far as he's concerned nothing happened. He's sitting right here as happy as a lark. But you can understand the concern. It more of a "if i go out for a week I need to prevent him from this happening". I have no problems leaving the kitties alone for 4-5 days. Past that and I'd like a single check on them - are they able to get to food and water?, that's all.

I've had them be locked in a closet for a day, MAYBE two and they always seem fine. They'll tell you where they are.

the main thing is that many cats can get kidney disease easily, so getting dehydrated can be dangerous. and of course the poor guy was probably pretty upset and uncomfortable!

my childhood cat recently went into liver failure and died. she got so she couldn't eat or drink anything, and on the 4th day we put her to sleep. at that point she could barely walk and looked terrible, but she could still purr and snuggle. she was 21, so i guess that shows a cat can go for at least 4 days without food or water and still survive.

I have a retard cat that does this all the time, never meows to get out either. I called him one morning over and over to come eat, come home from work and thought where's the cat? Checked the closet....sure enough.

imo you are the 'retard' for leaving an environment that is dangerous for a curious cat. how difficult is it to check the cupboard doors are closed before you leave the house.
