I am shocked Dr. Fauci hasn't been fired yet.

But, things aren't looking good. And, we know how Trump doesn't listen to someone saying bad things, nasty things, about what a great job he is doing.

My prediction; Friday March 20th (6:45pmish). The virus will hit 10s of thousands infected and Trump will "take control". Citing that Dr. Fauci just wasn't doing a good enough job. How Trump, and only Trump, can fix all of this - ask anybody and they will tell you.

I posed the question a few weeks ago. Now that things are getting worse good time for predictions. Trump will look for a scapegoat.

Unreported cases of Covid-19 were largely responsible for the rapid spread of the outbreak in China, say US scientists (Financial Times today)
Somebody will have to take the blame.

I'm going way, way out on a limb and I predict Trump will not fire him, at least not before the election.

Basis for my guess: I'm inlaws to a fair number of Trump supporters. Until now they would disregard EVERYTHING wrong Trump has done (including Ukraine, which to my eyes no reasonable person could disagree on). This is different-it directly affects their health and Americans are germophobes as a rule anyway. To date, nearly every statement, every action Trump has said or done is demonstrably wrong-if not immediately, then within a day. Fifteen cases, then fade away, one million tests available by the end of the first week, his international travel bans turning US airports in hours long, crowded petri dishes, his doing what needs to be last week instead of concentrating on upcoming needs, etc.

None of them are religious-I'm wondering how his ban on large groups plays with the mega-church attending fundies.

Like a mayor or governor who goes on vacation during a blizzard, Trump may have finally crossed the line.

Stand Down!!
I just read on Fox "News" aka Russia Today, that trumps swift handling of the virus in the early days prevented the US from becoming another Italy.
So clearly you are mistaken.

I going to throw up. Rewriting of history has already begun.

We knew about COVID-19 late Dec early Jan. He imposed travel "restrictions" on Jan 31 not an outright ban.

One month late and a partial ban does not sound like swift handling

Please God, protect Dr. Fettuccine!!

Dr. Fauci was

1) Telling people the facts
2) People actually believe him
3) He was getting more attention than Trump

That presser without Fauci was the worst of them all, and that's saying something. Even my Trump following cultist uncle said that presser left him more afraid than he's ever been in his life.

I'd rather be afraid for my life than be a Democrat!! :p

Lemme guess, he'll still vote for Trump come November?

Actually, Depending on how this plays out and if he's still alive... He's real close to stepping on the Biden Train. He's still "worried" that "all" the Deep State communist Democrats will manipulate him because he's so old..lol!

So if Trump goes forward with pushing to end social distancing far sooner than is needed, which he obviously is going to do. Will things reach a point where Fox News hides all the deaths as a result, or downplays them, somehow blames them on the Democrats, Obama, Hillary, Soros etc.?

I guess so. I think Republican politicians have realized that they've successfully radicalized the base to the point they don't even need to put effort into talking point lies anymore. It doesn't matter how implausible or demonstrably false they are, just throw out some red meat garbage, tie it to democrats or one of the sinister names and the base will go with it.

They've got themselves a cult if they can keep it.

This is the reason he will be fired. He cares more about the American people than he does the God-Emporer.
Look, if Fauci is fired there's nobody on stage during the daily photo ops who looks the least bit competent. Therefore I do not expect him to be fired. Simple as that.

Edit: OK, the surgeon general isn't a complete idiot, but I haven't seen him take the podium during the daily Trump photo ops.

I hope I am wrong, again.. but, end of March seems probable.

Also, MAGAtards are nipping at the good Doctor....

But to a vocal minority of ring-wing blogs and pro-Trump pundits, Fauci is the embodiment of the establishment forces that have been arrayed against the president since he came to Washington. And those voices are getting louder amid rumblings about Fauci’s standing with Trump as the president itches to get the economy restarted in the coming weeks.

A Deep-State Hillary Clinton-loving stooge,” read a Saturday headline on the American Thinker, a far-right website, latching on to a WikiLeaks-released email that showed Fauci praising Clinton for her Benghazi testimony as secretary of State.

Guy was a Hillary mole,” pro-Trump podcaster Bill Mitchell tweeted on Monday.

Disrespectful,” read a Monday headline on the right-wing Gateway Pundit, comparing Fauci to ousted general Stanley McChrystal.

You know what... fuck it. Let it all come down already.

  • “Fauci is now saying that had Trump listened to the medical experts earlier he could’ve saved more lives,” wrote Lorraine.
  • “Fauci was telling people on February 29th that there was nothing to worry about and it posed no threat to the US public at large,” she continued. “Time to #FireFauci.”
Fascinating.
Are these facts correct?

I picked the second one assuming that the Fauci failed was being snarking. He isn't the point of failure. Sadly, I think Trump is officially done with him.

I think it would be a monumentally stupid move to fire Fauci. Guy is a rockstar in the medical community and is well liked all around.

Which is why I think Trump will do it.

Oh yeah, total snark.

The point of failure is Trump, through and through. The fact that he is the common denominator in all of this proves he is the weakest link here.
