tard, you understand that DBW is what is needed in order to get the boost in fuel economy all cars need so badly? Oh and don't act like sticky throttles weren't an issue before this.

My old 1989 F-350 gets its throttle stuck under the mat from time to time.

Also, lol fleabag. Yeah, DBW is essential for good MPG. Uh huh

THE ONLY WAY to GET 25MPG is TO HAVE THROTTLE BY WIRE.

Good, fvck them. Did somebody hack Fleabots accnt?? Wait, nvm.

More on topic: As someone said before, there will probably be a push to drop throttle by wire in the near future. The chances of it being successful and 0
TELL THAT to THE AIRLINES WHICH use THROTTLE BY WIRE.

TELL THAT to THE AIRLINES WHICH use THROTTLE BY WIRE.

I just said that it would NOT be sucessful.. Reading comprehension fail.

Also, TBW in airliners (and all aircraft) undergo significantly more testing than most parts in cars.. Anything else to say?

Edit: Important to note, its not the airlines. Its the manufacturers that put in TBW.

TBW is in use by every car maker.

Problems with one make do not invalidate the use across all makes. It simple begs the question why do they have it wrong, when so many others have it right.

I guess I'll have to change over to throttle by wire to get my city/highway average up from 24mpg. :D

My 93 Camry used to get a stuck accelerator occasionally. Fortunately it only ever did this while pushing down, never when it was released.

I don't understand... Why would they go BACK to mechanical linkages?

With DBW you can simply program a fuel cut if the brakes and gas are pushed simultaneously which many manufacturers already do.

AFAIK, the problem Toyota has is mechanical, not at all related to programming. I believe Woszniaks case was proven to be a case of RTFM.

Fleabag is even more ridiculous than normal today. Either somebody hacked his account or his dad forgot to lock the liquor cabinet.

He just returned from his 1 week vacation. He's probably a little cranky that he couldn't post his inane comments for an entire week, either that or his diaper needs changing...too close to call really. :p

Is fleabag joking or was his account hacked, I have no idea what he's on about.

Anyway, no mechanical linkages won't be mandated nor are they coming back but I could certainly see mandatory safety measures taken. That just makes sense. Like if you hit the brakes stop that damn car no matter what.

How about you get engineers that know how to properly design and implement a DBW system?

I have had several stuck, sticky throttles. All of them were the cable/return spring type.
