No line when I showed up, and our ballots were a nifty scantron sheet. I was surprised to see no straight democrat/republican option and also to see McCain listed third on the presidential ballot.

My wife and I got to the polls at 10:10 and walked out after having voted at 10:35. This was by far, though, the biggest turnout I have ever seen. Usually it only takes 5 minutes.

I went at 0600 and the line was ridiculous. Since my wife works at the school where I have to go to vote I just had her call me when the line went away and I went back and voted then. Took about 10 minutes total.

I went at around 7:30, signed in, and voted without any lines... In and out in a couple of minutes. Not sure, though, if that's a good thing about my voting precinct or just a sad one.

There were only two people in front of me when I got in line, and they had the same last name.

Here in PA, Philly suburbs...

The wife and I were 33rd in line when I arrived at about 6:30AM (polls open at 7 here). By the time the doors opened, there were at least 100 people in line. Why this is amazing is that I have never waited more than 5 minutes or seen more than approx. 20 people there before. Turnout is very high here.

I live in a rural area of Indiana, got there at 10:15 AM, and got out of there seven minutes later, two in line ahead of me, and one of them was my wife who came with me. Chatted with the poll workers and found out the turn out was much greater than in 2004. I was gambling that I would have this pleasant outcome and I was not disappointed.

But, I can also understand those in other areas may not have these pleasant results, so by all means, having the option to vote early may be a wise option to have.

the wait time is 3 hours from 8:30 am.

once i voted, i have to get into another line to put the ballot in the machine.
i peeked at people's ballot, and not one for mccain, gilmore, or cantor..... (one person did leave the representatives part blank.)

I keep seeing long lines on the news. Are people pissed over this?

I've never waited in line for more than 5 minutes my entire life, but I've always lived in upper-middle class, conservative areas where we had lots of volunteers working the polls. My wife volunteered twice.

Wouldn't people who wait in line a long time think maybe they should volunteer next election rather than start crying foul?

10 minutes. Tennessee is already decidingly for McCain. My senator voted for the bailout package, his opposition is not worth a crap, so I would not know who to vote for. On the state level, again it would not matter. The democrats in Tennessee are corrupt beyond belief to the point of using under handed tactics to oust primary winners that did not tow the party line just to put someone who will vote the way they want.

So if I see a line that looks like it maybe longer than 10 minutes... I will just head home.

Took about 45 minutes. My election inspector said he was expecting 75-80% turnout. At 11am they were already past 25% turnout. Polls dont close til 8pm. Line was still 45 minutes when I left.

I was in line at 5:40am behind 20 people in NJ.
Polls opened at 6am and by then, the line had built up to 100 or more.
I was out of there by 6:15am.

I left for my polling place at 7:00 AM, just as polls were opening and biked the 75 yards or so to my polling place and saw a long line. So, I waited an hour, walked outside with my binoculars and didn't see a line and biked over there again. There was a line, I just couldn't see it. Around 30 people. It took me ~40 minutes to get done. There were actually two lines, a short one to get your ballot, a long one to get in one of the 6 booths. So, I had a chance to review the ballot carefully before getting in the booth, deciding how I was going to vote -- that saved time.

The straight party option should be illegal.

Presidents listed alphabetically by party?

I got their at ~8:10 and left at 9:05. Maybe 30-40 people in line. People are WAY too slow, took me about a minute to physically fill out the ballot. They had about 9 booths setup constantly filled.

There was no one in my line where I voted. Took literally 2 minutes. But for people that were in a different district, there was a really long line.
