How likely is it that my cpu is broken?

I recently got an asus p5n sli and an e6300. I already suspect that my motherboard is broken or having incompatability issues with my antec neo HE 550watt because I have tried 2 cpus on my p5n. I am scared however, that I may have damaged my cpu when I was cleaning the stock thermal compound from it. Some of it got stuck near the bottom of the heatspreader and while trying to clean it off, I may have allowed about 5 drops worth of rubbing alchohol leak under the heatspreader. Since I can't test whether or not my cpu is broken, can anyone tell me if getting rubbing alchohol/ thermal compound under the heatspreader would cause damage to my cpu?

Yes, but only if you didn't give the alcohol enough time to dry, before pushing the power button.

What exactly is under the heatspreader? I was under the impression that it was like normal PCB with a core that has plastic covering, similar to a video card that doesn't get damaged when wiping it with rubbing alchohol (the pcb surrounding the plastic covered core).

underneath the IHS is the actual core and just the pcb i belive. I don't remember seing any resistors or anything. Also there is a solid seal around the IHS so i doubt you got stuff inside there.

Thanks for the reassurance. Now, how likely is it that my mobo is just having compatability issues with my antec neo HE 550? Can anyone describe the symptoms? My motherboard powers on but it won't boot into the bios. I would rather be told if it's a compatability issue because it takes about an hour each time to install and unistall my thermaltake BT since I have to remove the motherboard from its tray.
