How "legal" would this be?

The thing is that I have 1gb of data that I can download per month, all downloaded data is counted except for data I download from iceland. I usualy end up with around 1.5-2gb per month which ends up costing too much money.

So I was thinking if I could create a php script that I could put on my webspace at my isp and use that to do my browsing, sortof like a web proxy. Could that be called illegal?

I don't know if it'd be illegal in your country, but I would imagine your ISP wouldn't like it very much. 🙂

No, you aren't doing anything illegal.
You've found a loop hole in the system.
You're not breaking any laws, although they could drop you off their service at any time they want if they figured out what you were doing.. however, you aren't doing anything illegal.

I download 2-4 gigs a day 😛 I would die if I was stuck with that in a month.

hmmm.. do you think my isp would give me a warning before they would cut me off?

The worst part is that this is the best deal I can get, I could get a much much faster connection through the electric network but that actually would be a little bit cheaper, but they also count eveything that I download localy so no way.

It's legal, but it's probably in their TOS. Something along the lines of "you won't voluntarily circumvent the monthly limit." I say go for it. THey'll warn you before they cut you off.

Now you are all just turning it into a pissing contest...

One I might win... I remember last December I went on a download spree... I successfully congested a router from logs. My ISP had to go into the router, delete me as an entry, and rebuild me 😛

As for the 'web proxy' do it. My friends and I have written web mail before. Which is fun, because you can send email to anyone, and virtually not be traced, muhahahaha....

I read through their contract and I didnt see anything that said about abusing the webspace. But hey they should owe me something, I'v been with them since I started using the internet, in 1995 I think😛

One thing that they could use
13. ISP Name can decide if certain communications are breaking any of these rules.

but I'm not sure since these rules arent exactly about this, they are about irc and newsgroups and mass emailing... but hey.. if they figure this out they will just add another rule there just for me 🙂

I found a free php script that actually does this, havent tried it out because I dont have access to the webserver right now, will do when I get hope

http://dividuum.de/p/anonweb/

and also an intersting line in config.php
define("ANONWEBSITE","http://dividuum.de/p/anonweb/"); // your monitor will explode if you touch this :Q
