How large would the magnetic field be around a Paradigm Titan?

On my Titans that I am getting soon, I figure that one speaker stand would be extremely close to my computer. What is the magnetic field range of the speaker that would be dangerous to my magnetic storge devices?

I think most speakers these days are shielded, so I don't THINK it should be a problem. Previously I had a Pioneer bookshelf from the 70's sitting right next to my comp. Never a problem.

The speakers I use (see sig) are not magnetically shielded but they are fine only a foot away from the monitor. Any closer and some odd colors start showing up from the bigass magnet. If you go too close by accident, just degauss your monitor and it fixes it.

Paradigm don't shield all their speakers. They do make a shielded version for most of them, but they cost a little more. I don't think it would be dangerous for your storage device. It's more likely your monitor will be affected if they're too close. I would think a feet would be enough though.

The CC series are shielded but the Performance series are not, I think, if I remember correctly.

I guess I'll use my monitor as a test before I use my hard drive as one, lol..

Just pay for the shielding. (The Titans do not come shielded. All their centre channel speakers are shielded speakers for obvious reasons.)

For the Titans I think it's $20 CAD, so it will be probably around $15-20 for you Americans. They might have to special order it though.

I personally would not want an unshielded speaker of that size within a foot of my monitor or hard drives. I stuck Titans within a foot of a TV --> major psychedelic colours. Over a foot away was fine.

The sales guys recommend 2 feet for safety's sake and I would agree.

Yeah, but I like to play it safe. Hard drives can be finicky things (esp. if they're overclocked). I'd hate to see that thing fry it self after 6 months.

Well, no corrupted data or random errors yet. Computer is more like 2-3 feet away anyway. The monitor is a foot from the magnet.
