How large of power supply??

I'm building up a P4 2.5, Epox mb. I'll probably have3 hard drives and a CDRW plus a GeForce4 card, SC, floppy and all the usual stuff. So, what size do you recommend for a psu? I don't want to go way oversided either. Will a 300 watt unit do the trick, or do I need 350? I don't want to go way oversized either. What do you recommend? Can ya list some reliable brands?

I've been reading a bit about power supplies on this forum for the past few weeks, and it seems that most people would say that the top three brands (starting with the best) are Antec, Enermax, or Sparkle. The TruePower line by Antec is definitely one of the best out there, if not the very best. You can find the TruePower 330 for $53 at Newegg. If you want to save a little money while still getting a solid unit, Sparkle power supplies are the way to go.

a decent quality 300 from either of the aforementioned brands will do, a 350 is if u like some reserve, I wouldnt go over 350 and I definetly wouldnt go and buy any other brand cous then a 450 watt PSU might not even suffice ...

nowdays it all comes down to quality rather than the noted wattages ...

I'd go with a 400watt. Maybe a bit overkill, but definately enough power there if you decide to add a bunch of drives. I have the Enermax 431 wisper, it's good. I got it for about $85 at newegg.

I'd go with quality rather than quantity. Many people over here recommend high power PSUs of 400W or more, but the truth is, the vast majority of people here would never ever outgrow a quality 300W PSU from say, AOpen, even with 4-5 drives and many fans. If you're within that minority group, then get a 350W just to be safe. Of course, if you just need to be l33t, then by all means get a 400+W PSU...

I agree about quality over quantity. A good PSU rated at 330W or 350W can easily beat a cheap 400W. Antec's Truepower 330W, for example, has a max output of 310W (if I remember correctly). I've seen 400W PSU's with only around that much, and it didn't have the same stability that Antec's unit has.

Exactly?.

A good quality 300 watt PS will do just fine for almost any setup, yours included. Enhance is another quality brand to look into, if you don't need/want all the extra features that come with the Enermax or Antec they very good for the money.

I have the same PS. All the voltages are stable. Its not the quietest PS but its not noisy😉
