How lame is the idea of Jedi Knights?

Now that I think about it, sure these guys are good in 1 on 1 combat, but come on, in moderm mechanized warfare, where there's huge explosions, missiles, bombs, and all that stuff, is a guy with a fricken glowing sword and the ability to lift up a rock with his mind reallly gonna be that effective?

Now, make that firepower about 100 times more powerful like it would be in the Star Wars universe. HAHA LOL.

Soldier: "General, there's 50 Jedi Knights down on the planet"
General: "drop some bombs on em"

LOL

I could be wrong, but I believe that's exactly what the Empire did to the Jedi in Star Wars. The Jedi were no match for thousands of stormtroopers.

ohh yeah. LOL.

Like fight in the arena near the end of Ep 2. They should have just dropped 1 friggen bomb on the whole boatload of Jedi.

Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.

iirc, they sent vader to hunt down and kill them all.

I think they'd be pretty effective in combat tho.

remember, size matters not.

Soldier: General, there's about 50 jedi knights down there
General: Drop some bombs on them
Soldier: ok <drops a few hundred bombs on them>
Soldier: Hey General, gravity makes things fall towards the target right?
General: Yeah, why?
Soldier: So, bombs shouldn't be returning back to us right?
General: Yes dammit why?
Soldier: I'm going to borrow this parachute now.
General: Huh?

Let's not forget the ability to throw tanks, make it so no one realizes where the jedi are, even if they're right in front of you. The ability to throw lightning.

Yeah, and the lamest thing of all, Luke never even needed to turn himself in and go to the death star to confront VAder and the emperor. Lando and Wedge would have blown the damn thing up anyways. Luke's whole lightsaber fight was kinda pointless, infact, he should have just stayed on Dagobah.

Now if you had thousands of force-enabled combat-trained infantry, THAT would be devestating.

Nah, Luke's purpose for getting himself captured and taken to the deathstar was to confront Vader to finish his training(and to hopefully turn Vader from the dark side back to the light). It wouldn't have been the "right thing to do" to stay on Dagobah. And besides, the movie would've been shorter and we would've missed out on a great anger filled lightsaber fight! :D

I could be totally off base here but I always saw the Jedi as an elite force (no pun intended) not a foot soldier for convential combat. Kinda like for the big fights you send in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and/or Marines. But sometimes the situation calls for some Special Ops (SEALs for example) not a conventional fighting force.

1) Jedi were against being used as soldiers.
2) They kicked ass, but were good at defending straight-up, none of this dodging assassins BS that the Sith put them through.
3) Hundreds of thousands of troops per jedi...see point 4
4) Their main power in combat was basically short-term precognition
5) They were never made to even *think* about hiding out, which is what the few survivors had to do. They were hunted down.
6) Such an order is bound to be destroyed if a single human is involved. Many were involved.

I thought, in the case of a bomb, that the Jedi's could just use the force and stop it or deactivate it.

are all storm troopers clones (episode 4,5,and 6) or just the ones in clone war?

Clone Troopers were only used in eps 2&3
Storm Troopers are conscripts of the empire
