It's not pig stomach. It's a cut of meat from the belly of a pig. HUGE difference.

Is that precooked bacon any good?
Ever seen the movie Trading Places? They trade pork belly futures. What's funny is that as silly as it sounds it is an actual futures trading commodity and has been since the early 60s.Originally posted by: edro
PORK BELLY!
I had never heard that term before that show. Now it is in my head every time I see bacon.

Fuck yeah. Not as good as non-cooked bacon but it's still fantastic in my book.Originally posted by: lokiju

It's not as good as regular bacon, it's kind of dry. Even if it was as good as regular bacon it's badly overpriced and kind of silly. If you want precooked bacon precook your own bacon. Take a pound of bacon, spread it on a cookie sheet and bake it. When it gets about 75-80% done take it out, cool it and freeze it. Then you've got bacon that can be cooked quickly for any application. It'll be about 1/4 the price of precooked and will taste better.

Though I like to use a roasting pan with a grate on top so the bacon fat drips down while it's cooking. Makes for a crispier end-product and helps to keep the bacon flat too. Shriveled bacon is still good, but it's less good.

The big plus besides the speed of warming it up vs. cooking it is that there's no fatty mess to clean up.
