Ok Im building a comp for my friend and he is going to be doing a good portion of video editing with it. Heres the specs

Tbird 900
Asus A7V
256 pc 133 ram
30 gig 75 gxp
guillemot gf2 mx
sb live value
enlight 7237

I also am going to get a 7200 rpm scsi drive for the video editing and a u2 card. If anyone can recommend a good U2 scsi card for like $100 and a cheap 18 gig 7200 rpm scsi drive for like 240 or less (if possible). Also as far as video capturing we were looking into the Pinnacle DC30pro, but its a little too expensive, and the DC10 is too cheap. Whats a good solution for around $300?
Also, is it possible to use the IDE drive for the OS and all files, and just use the scsi drive for the video files? Thanks.

Something often overlooked with the stats you presented. Make sure to get CAS 2 memory. Most people around here argue between Mushkin, Corsair, or Crucial(Micron). The difference between CAS 2 and CAS 3 is quite noticable and most places don't advertise whether the memory they sell is CAS 2 or 3.

No CD-ROM or DVD?
Network card or modem?

Yes, but you eat up a lot of IRQs by having an IDE and SCSI system. Each IDE or SCSI channel uses an IRQ. You are probably looking at a single channel SCSI controller.

AMB, that would turn into an Asus vs. Abit debate again. I'm personally partial to Asus. However, cases can be made for either manufacturer.

I'd reccomend the K7T over the A7V, as the KT7 allows you a bit more headroom in tweeking your RAM settings, which should be highly beneficial in this case.🙂
