Barricade? 8 Port 10/100 Mbps Broadband Router, SMC7008ABR...?

how is it in performance w/ the switch and also on DSL?
 
Well, Im sure there's plenty of threads that have already discussed this before in here...the search function works wonders. But yea, its a really good router. A tad more expensive than the Linksys ones but the print server and backup modem functions are really nice
 
i was reading throught the manual online, and the option for the ext. modem, could i just use the ext. modem for dial up access? while waiting the extra months before dsl is available?
 
You need an Ext. Modem.

The Barricade has serial port to connect to the modem, and you can use it to share the Inernet.
 
You can only use an external modem for the dial-up connection on the router. You can use the router to share a dial-up connection until you can get DSL/Cable. It should also have a print server, so that's a nice touch to the router. I have the 4-port router and it's pretty good so far.
