well I believe it's technically true now except for Texas after the whole civil war thing.
I'm constantly baffled at how common the belief is among Americans that the outcome of the civil war somehow established a legal precedent. Not to mention the equally outlandish assumption that it is impossible to divide a nation (or at least the USA) on amicable terms.

America is like that stereotypical douchebag who likes to wear a big bling-bling cross to let everyone know he's Christian.

Didn't you vote for Obama? How could you vote for someone that has a psychological disorder? You knowingly voted for a crazy person to be President of the US? You must be crazy too.

ONE could only wish that god was never allowed to enter politics or government..

How do you separate a people from their core beliefs and values?

Or maybe you wish to stop those people from politics and government.

The funniest part about pledge objectionism is that "under god" inspires more objections than the most insidious, dastardly lie in the pledge: "indivisible".

I thought that was settled by "the war of northern aggression" in 1865, but apparently the mythos of the lost cause lives on...

Get over it. Move on.

Given the pyramid with floating eye on "every dollar" I'd argue we're really a nation controlled by either the Illuminati or Sauron, not Xtina Aguilera.

The US was originally set up by free masons. You could do some research at your founding fathers if you like... That is where the eye comes from.
The eye from the freemasons may refer to some deity from the ancient Egyptian religions.
Unfortunately, the religious void created by the freemasons (which was done from a positive attitude) was filled up with all kinds of Christian faiths and pagan faiths. Satanic worshipping is pretty common in the more wealthy part of the US. Because if you are bored, you are bored. And Christianity is dull.

All religions start out good, after a while the religions get corrupted by humans greed. A few centuries later a fresh religion starts and after a while gets corrupted by humans greed. A few centuries later....

When will it end. When the black hole at the center of the galaxy will create a gravity ripple that will force the sun to burst out enough matter that the earths magnetic field can not guide it away and breaks down... All suns in the milky way galaxy are under the influence of the black hole at the center of the galaxy. When the black hole commands : "jump", the suns will ask : "how high ?" .

Get over it. Move on.

I'm not sure what you think I'm arguing for, as I never said anything about wanting any kind of secession. Your sloppy reading goes hand in hand with your sloppy reasoning though, as you apparently make the silly but common error of confusing a war with a judicial ruling.

if there is no God, it logically does not matter what we do or believe. Or who we invade.

Right, because without God we're free to run wild and bulldoze whoever we want. How about the most evolved animals on this planet start taking responsibility for their own actions, instead of relying on some man-made bullshit to "guide" them through life.

I thought it was to honor the sacrifices of the Civil War? "In God We Trust" was a war cry by the Union in battle, and Individisble was a motto used by Lincoln that the states would not be divided but instead under a single flag. I thought it was more about history than it was about Christianity. Atleast thats how I remember that going... But maybe that is just an urban legend? Just because those soldiers in the Civil War were Christian means we shouldn't acknowledge their sacrifice or dishonor them by removing it? Ugh.

And why does it matter to the universe what we do? who cares if we're the most evolved? Why does the universe care if we dominate other countries?

You can do anything you like. If the other animals catch and kill you it doesn't make any real difference. It doesn't mean anything. In an absolute sense all morality is consensus forced by the majority. A serial killer is no better or worse than anyone else in realty since no concepts have presence in space time. Everything you have done, everything you love, everything you dream of embrace or despise is pointless in an absolute sense. Oh you can "take responsibility" and fool yourself about how nice that is, but it is just as much as an illusion as religion. In the end as you lie dying surrounded by friends and family, remember that nothing you did really matters, that they to will face the time where they just aren't. Remember that the universe will expand and die and that it and everything in it for all of time was just a flip of a statistical coin which itself never was real. Just like you.

Have a pleasant day :p

There are two things I think we should use instead of "god":

"In credit we trust"

"In food we trust"

Either are more representative of present-day America than anything else.

We'll honor them as atheists instead. This is no different than whitewashing the 10 commandants out of the judiciary. The purpose is to change the historical context of the country to better fit the modern image of a godless nation.

so where do inalienable rights come from??

Do they come from "God", or from our interpretation of "God's will"? If it's from our interpretation of the desires of a supreme being, why can't it be simplified to say that those inalienable rights come from ourselves?

We're intelligent creatures, recognizing the distinctions between ourselves and others. We recognize our inherent needs and desires. Surely we could develop a shared common morality and express them as "inalienable rights".

Evolution. Animals have bills of rights too, they're just not written down. A guide to surviving as a species such as it is.

Nothing more and nothing less. The rest is just humanity jerking itself off.
