How is the stamina of a smoker?

I'm playing some one on one ball against a taller player today--our skill is pretty much the same--however one advantage I think I have that might negate the disadvantage in height is the fact that my opponent is a smoker.

He smokes quite a bit, maybe 2-3 times a day... not too bad I guess...

I plan on running him hard to get that advantage... will it work ? Are there smokers out there who have NO problems keeping up?

He's fairly scrawny and doesn't seem to excercise much...

Thanks! Just trying to get any advantage possible :)

I am aware of the level of maturity of this question--so please, spare me the flaming :)

I'm a smoker, but I've always had poor endurance unless I'm doing something like backpacking. If it's just step after step, I can keep going and going and going -even with all my weight and the weight of someone else who passed out early in the trip and refused to keep going. I packed her just over four miles and kept up with the group quite easily. I carried four 5-gallon oil based stain cans at a time across a college campus for a few hours once.

I guess I'm a work horse instead of a speed demon.

Err... well, that was then. I've let myself go over the past three years. But I've been smoking since early HS.

2-3 times a day isnt going to stop him much depending on how long hes been smoking but there are quite a bit of smokers out there who can kick ass. On FearFactor the last test was who could hold their breath the longest and the guy who smoked the most one so take that into account just in case youre getting whooped.

That's because he was used to surviving without oxygen. :p

In 1v1 his stamina won't matter as much. Full court is a different story.

Even when I was in shape I was always winded, whether it was running 2 miles for sports or carrying a TV up some stairs. I always felt the next step was going to be my last, but always pushed through. Smoking probably has effected my stamina, but I've learned to be more effecient.

My sister is in great shape but smokes. I've got some fat to burn and a minor case of asthma. When hiking, our endurance appears to be at similar levels. Smoking has really lowered her endurance.
