Hi, I am a first time user of Gigabyte motherboard. How is the RMA of this company and reliability of their motherboards?

As some of you know, I got a Z390 Ardours Xtreme. There were problems with getting it to POST at the beginning but after unplugging all the components including the CPU and re-plugging, it has been working fine for 3 weeks. I only have a week to decide if I should ask for a replacement or not. Any suggestion?

They are pretty good but I doubt they grant you an RMA if everything is working properly. That's a 500 hundred dollar board though and you should have at least a 3 year warranty on it.

I can still ask for a replacement from online retailer as it is still within 30 days of purchase. I reported to Gigabyte the issues in the first few days and they are ok with a replacement. So I need to decide if I should do it. Given that there were issues at the beginning, they could reappear after the 30 days return period. However, if I get a new replacement, it could be worse. I cannot compare because the retailer has to receive my current board first before they can send a replacement.

It's the cadillac of boards they offer so it's a damn good one. If you're unsure and you know Gigabyte will RMA it then I wouldn't worry about it. But if you just want a new one send it in now to the retailer!

Why when inserting the ram, two slots had some kind of strange resistance? Just felt different when inserting ram to those two slots. It was like inserting interface cards in those old Apple II computers.

For a $500 board that had problems from day 1, I would DEMAND an immediate replacement, shipped overnight with a prepaid return box and a coupon for $100 off my next purchase at the retailer where I got it from, just for the hassle & inconvenience :D

Yes, I am a hardass when it comes to stuff like this, but I refuse to let people play with MY money & time .... no if's, and's or butts....

If you disagree with this policy, then refer to the age old saying of "the customer is always right" :D

This is going to sound coarse and crude. However, I think it is stupid to pay $500 for any motherboard. Anytime you buy a high end motherboard and then a very high end processor and overclock it with high speed RAM, then you are just asking for trouble. The higher end you try to go the higher the risk you are assuming. However, go ahead and take the risk if you want. Just dont complain about the results.

I have found that Gigabyte motherboards work well with my Intel CPU's. However, I have seen some tests that some AMD chip sets did not work well with M.2 drives.

Chances are high it was "user error". Run some burn in diagnostics, give the board a workout with benchmarks etc, and count yourself lucky if it continues to work fine.
