How is the maxima gonna compete with the new altima??

They better have a nice redesign out soon. What do you think will need to be done to make the Maxima stand out above the Altima?

I was thinking a bigger engine, like a V8, and a redesign to appeal to a older more seasoned person, but not old people Cadillac or anything.

They're not planning on them competing. The new Altima is trying to fill the market the Maxima had, and the maxima is trying to go up a notch and compete with the higher-end luxury cars and such.

[Edit: THis is all according to the dealer in the car with me when I test-drove the '02 Altima 3.5 SE last weekend.]

<< The heart of any supercar is the engine. Bolted to the chassis of the R390 is a Nissan VRH35L twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter double-overhead-cam V8 with electronic sequential port fuel injection producing 550 horsepower at 6800 rpm and 470 ft-lbs of torque at 4400 rpm. The engine complies with all European exhaust gas regulations and is reliable enough to be driven at redline for well over 24 hours in race trim. >>

The Maxima is still going to please the Sir Mix-a-lot types.... I like BIG BUTT's and I cannot LIE!!

Thing has a terrible a$$ end on it, Altima is better looking, tho my Brother has one, and I don't see what the hype is at all about... now the Z will be something to hype about. Buy honestly, when I see my bro's Altima...all I see is regular car.

So what part of my question don't you understand. I guess I don't follow Nissan as much as you, nor do I want to.

A simple yes they do would suffice.

You think you know everything? I guess I can't blame you, when I was in college I also thought I knew everything. In retrospect, I was ignorant in college. That assumption applies to most college students, including you.

A smartass remark resonded to with a smartass comment. They go hand in hand...

despite the new design of the Altima. I am still more particular to the Maxima, I love the looks of the 2002, and I think it is still a far nicer car in and out than the 2002 Altima... they are both dope-ass cars! 😀

I think the new Max will still sell well, although not as good as the Altima, but that was the same story the last few years, the Altima has always been a good seller, since it was released.

Lookswise for the Altima, Nissan copied the Civic front-end, the bodyline and roof from a Passat/Audi and guess then they couldn't figure where to get the butt from. So there....:disgust:

The Maxima (if only again, the butt was better looking) is a much nicer looking/elegant car.
