I just bought a 2500+ @stock speed, NF7-S, and a 900a. My YS-tech adjustable cools the idle CPU to 34-35c on full blast, or 38-40c when silent. I'm tired of adjusting it manually though, and I was thinking of using some sort of automatic system like SpeedFan to control it. I'm also looking for a more efficient fan for when I'm ready to overclock.

I want the M1A to be as silent as a 7 volt mod though. Is SpeedFan going to do that?

Couldn't say for sure.

I can tell you though that I recently put on a 900 and the 92mm Panaflo "M" fan. Even at full blast (something like 3,000 RPM, I forget exactly right now while at work ;) ) it's very quiet. Perhaps not inaudible, but very, very quiet. Compared to my video card, I can't even here the CPU fan, and my video card (BFG FX 5900) is supposedly quiet for it's kind. BTW, XP2600 at stock speed.

My point being - you may not even need to control it, it may be quiet enough at full blast for you. If not, I can also tell you that the YS-tech fan speed controller will swap to other fans and perform a similar function, in case that gives any ideas to you.

I found an old fan from an SVC GC68. The specs are 30CFM @ 28dBa which are the same exact specs as an M1A, so I'm thinking of just using this one. BTW I tried out SpeedFan's feature to lower fan speeds according to temp, and it works like a charm.
