Hey

I'm considering switching to communicating over the internet insted of paying for a land line. The last time a tried this (about 4 years ago), the calls sounded really unnatural due to latency issues. Has it gotten any better since? for anybody using skype, how do you find it for a.) calling other skype users (PC to PC) or b.) to people with a normal phoe? do the conversations sound natural?

Of course. I'd rate the sound quality of Skype as very high.
a.) calling other skype users (PC to PC)
The best choice of course (due to the fact that it is free); however, the quality is very much the same both to other Skype users and to landline/mobiles.

SkyOut quality is very good. Due a recent change, one can place free calls to toll-free numbers, which would be an excellent method to test the quality for yourself without a commitment.

If using Skype to replace a landline, you might consider SkypeIn as well.

Good luck.

i've used skype pc to pc - i have 1.5 Mbit DSL and my friend has ~3Mbit cable - skype produces a very clean sound from our experience, even when gaming (we played a game of Warhammer: DOW and skype sound was great)

I bought 10 Eruo's in Skype Credit to do PC to Landline calls but it sounded like crap almost every call so I stopped using it still have about 9 Eruos in credt !

that was about 5 months ago

PC to PC sounds great though and thats free.

I was using a 5Mbit connection at the time.
