How is the fan noise on a retail ATI Radeon 8500?

I plan on picking up a retail 8500 soon, and since they've been out for a good while now I was hoping I could get some opinions on their longevity. I'm pretty sure all stock video cooling solutions are near silent when new, but those small fans don't seem to last, so...

How long have you had your ATI card, and how is the fan noise?

I've had mine for a month and I haven't encountered any problems. It is *very* quiet and you can't hear it over the cpu fan

I'm pleasantly surprised there's not at least one person who's complained, yet. Up until last week, the loudest component in my box was an IBM 60GXP harddrive. I have new Seagate in there now, but I'm waiting on a CPU so I haven't tried it out, yet. I unplugged the fan on my Gainward GF2 because it got noisy after about 2 months, but I put in a drop of oil and it seems quiet in my friend's box.(Perhaps because his fans are louder than my PCP&C Silencers)

Anyways, thanks for the replies...they just gave me another reason to go with the Radeon8500 over the TI200.

The fan on my OEM Radeon 8500 is still perfectly silent and I got it as soon as they came out. I have found that the type of an on the 8500 seems to last quite a while (I have yet to see one like it fail). OTOH the smaller fans (like the one on the Radeon 64DDR VIVO) don't last very long. The fan on my 64VIVO got loud in a few months. I finally switched it with someone else's Radeon 32DDR. 😉
