How is Target any less evil than Walmart?

Many people out there, especially here in hippy NYC, seem to consider Walmart "evil" and refuse to shop there, yet have no problem shopping at Target..

What's the logic there? Is there something about Target that I don't know, or are they just another big-box retailer?

Hippy NYC dislikes Walmart because it's simply huge. Is it really "evil"? In certain cases or from a certain perspective, sure. It's not any different than any corporation, though. I don't see Target as being any better.
Target is supposedly "classier" than Walmart, but that has nothing to do with good/evil, but rather demographics and marketing.

a lot of is marketing.

however, shopping at target is usually a more pleasant experience than shopping @ W*M. I hate hate hate going to the Supercenter, its a surefire way to make my blood pressure go sky high.

Saving .20 on toilet paper isn't worth it.

They are pretty equal. The only difference is that everything Target sells when it comes to clothing and household murchandise is ugly as Lady Gaga.

My wife came home the other day with a new Slingbag/Purse contraption. It was a dark brown with ugly ass fake 70's "Love" patches and that kinda shit.

First words out of my mount "Got that at Target eh?"

I can't say I've ever been to a ghetto Target. I've only been in a few walmarts (because there aren't any in our area) and they were definitely unpleasant.

Both stores stock the same Made-in-China type junk, but I think Target treats their workers a little better. At least they're not always getting busted for overtime violations and whatnot.

Every Target I've been to is clean, has nice wide aisles, and it looks like someone gives a shit about keeping the place clean and organized. The few Walmarts I've been to have all been disgusting and cramped. Their merchandise looks like it's organized by a tornado.

I orefer Target because it's cleaner, and the employees are more helpful, (and plentiful).

I never have to wait long at all the check out, unlike WalMart.

I don't mind paying a bit more to be treat as a customer, and not a number.

I don't know if Target is involved in any of the specific practices I mentioned, but I can tell you that, for example, Costco is a big-box retailer which is not guilty of those Wal-Mart specific practices - only the basic problems with big box retailers.
