How is Sprint's Cellular Service?

Josh

Lifer
I just ordered a nice Samsung A460 Phone (with Sprint PCS) from Amazon thanks to you guys and your hot deals 🙂 And I was wondering if Sprint PCS is a good service? I currently have VoiceStream and I'm extremely glad to be getting rid of that piece of crap service.

I live in New Jersey and I ordered the $40/month plan with 350 anytime minutes and 3650 night & weekend minutes. What do you guys think? Bad or good?

I've had Sprint PCS for about three years now. They have excellent coverage (nationwide, what more do'ya want?), good prices and the QUALITY of the coverage is excellent. Very rarely do I get dropped calls.

I used to have PrimeCO (remember the little Purple Alien Guy with the antenna in his head? 🙂) and they sucked.

Thankfully Sprint has online billpay and usage checking, b/c their customer service sucks major moose ass. If you need to call them (God help you) you will be on hold for one hour, minimum. One time (only once in three years..not bad) they screwed up my bill. I had to call them and was on hold for almost 90 minutes.

That's the only neg thing I have to say about them, though. YOu made a wise choice. 😎

well, ill be the dissenter here. Ive had pcs for a year and half and now and just dropped it. they DECREASED the number of towers in my area and now I hardly get a signal anywhere here (st. louis). another thing that always bugged me was back when I did get decent service, I used to find roaming calls on my bill that could not have been roaming. and I had my phone set to digital service only so if I went into a roaming area, my phone shouldve told me, but it never did. like one time, my bill said I made a $16 roaming call to my parents on sat. night at 9:30. the cust srvc rep told me that my nights and weekend minutes were used up and thats why it was roaming. I thought that was a little suspicious so I checked and I still had 500 something minutes left in my anytime! they out and out lied to me. my arguements didnt get me anywhere and I still had to pay it though. other than that, cust srvc was always good.

basically, if you get good reception, I think theyre no better or worse than other cell providers.

I've had Sprint for over 2.5 years and never had a problem. I've driven from Minnesota to Arizona three times and had service for 98% of the trip (new mexico excluded). I've never been charged for something i shouldn't have and very rarely get dropped calls.

plus i got in before they went the 'contract' route, so as long as i stay on my plan and don't have to switch, i have no contract. just month to month.

It stinks in MD...I'm going to switch to verizon...but i might hold off for a few weeks to see how those new 3G phones are because Verizon has some pretty ugly phones except maybe the Motorola v60.

Nice, hopefully it'll work out in my area, if not I think you can cancel for free within like 30 days or something.

I'm going with whateverdude. I'm here in north Jersey and gave up on Sprint. Great coverage if you live on the GSP, but it was terrible around my house. Forget about "in" my house; it never worked there. Also, I found customer support nonexistent.

I finally ditched the phone and Sprint and went with Verizon. Much, much better. fwiw.

I have Sprint and its has worked very well

Never had droped calls or bad reception.

I have to talk to people on cell phones all day and some of them have horrible reception...

I think Cingular and Nextel are the worst.

people always talk about Sprint's bad customer service. In the 2.5 years i have used them, i've had to use customer service once. That was for activation.

I've only had to use them a handful of times in 3 years, but every time it's been a major hassle. Block at least an hour on your calendar. That includes 55 minutes of hold time and 5 minutes to actually get done whatever it is you need to get done. Sprint is GTG in my book.

Thanks for all the good comments! I think I'm gonna try out Sprint in the normal areas that I visit, if reception is good then I'll most likely keep it. If I have problems then I guess I'll have to cancel and go with Verizon, AT&T or Cingular or something 🙂

I just got my sprint phone a couple days ago, seems to be pretty good so far. I have not been able to get my password for the online account management though.
