I havent about them in a long time. their last video card flopped. how r they staying in business?

I know the Parhelia flopped in the enthusiast market, but how did it fare in the professional / graphics market?...which is where I think it's features would be put to the best use.

alot of businesses use them. they have the BEST 2d and the best multimonitor support of ANY other company. they are a small private company, so they dont have alot of the inverstor overhead like the big N. Small companies like them can really focus on what they are good at. they are NOT a company that makes gaming cards. they are for BUSINESS

//wait who is my hdd made by lol.. dont think its matrox.. something 8 and the new line is 9.

For the record they're not just in business, they're obviously making good money. At McGill (where I go to university) electrical, computer, and software engineering are all moving into a new building this fall. The construction of this building was funded in large part by Lorne Trottier, one of the two owners of Matrox.

At a press conference this morning, McGill Principal Bernard Shapiro revealed that alumnus Lorne M. Trottier is personally contributing up to $10 million to spearhead construction of a $17 million information technology building dedicated to teaching. In return, McGill has pledged to raise another $7 million in community donations towards erecting the facility.

Matrox sells a lot to businesses because of the stellar 2-D performance of their cards. They are also significant players in the professional DV editing market and I believe they have some contracts with the US military.

They are also Canadian like ATI.

Yes, but back in the day, when matrox and diamond viper were the top video cards out there....i paid something like 500 for one for my P90.

My last Matrox card was a G400. Terrific card =T. Moved onto an ATI Radeon 8500.... love them Canadians.

Im using a Matrox Millinium2 to type this!
How long did it take to type?

I never knew the video card affected the keyboard! 😉

Maybe I should start overlcocking my card so I can type faster 😉

hehehe

My company consist of around 1800 machines.. we need quad monitor capability.. either colorgraphic - using ati mobile chip or matrox g450 quads.. 1800 x 700 = 1,260,000 retail dollars.. thats how they make their money.. but we'll prob get a discount for that volume.

it kinda suck that there isn't dual agp yet = would be great for quad monitor setups 🙂
