Not sure if this is a supply chain thing or what, but it seems like tire prices have gone up more than I'd expect.

IDK I've pretty much assumed greed was playing a big part from the beginning.

Some of it is supply chain, but some of it is pure greed and the current news provides good cover for raising prices.

IDK I've pretty much assumed greed was playing a big part from the beginning.

I don't always assume greed - benefit of the doubt of course. There could be extenuating circumstances.
THere's a fine line between profit motive and greed. Profits serve as incentives to provide goods or services. NOthing wrong with profit, intrinsically. SO no technical foul in raising prices.

This reminds me: In 2010 the cost of cotton hit an all-time record and Levis responded by raising jean prices by 33%. And they have yet to return to normal.

A lot of it really is greed. In capitalism if you don't double your profits from last year you basically fail. Companies always want infinite growth. That means cutting quality, quantity, work force and any other costs. Then raising prices. My insurance went up by $20 as soon as the pandemic hit. I ended up having to remove all the optional coverage on my truck and got liability only, just so I can bring the price down to what it was before.

Welp, we cancelled our Outer Banks vacation this year. Airfares, car rental, and beach lodging were all jacked to European vacation prices. Off-season prices are where prime season prices used to be.

I have started using this delivery service called Misfits for vegetable delivery. They ship organic "seconds" fruits and vegetables to your door, and prices are pretty much in line with regular produce at grocery stores. As a result we've been eating more veggies and less meat.

I wanted to sign up for Misfits Market, but they don't ship to my area yet apparently. I've noticed food prices climbing and thought it'd be a good way to get fruits and veggies, save some food waste and some money. Hopefully they'll expand to here soon. There's also 'Ugly Produce' and 'Imperfect Foods' that are the same type of service, though selection may differ on variety of goods beyond produce (like meats, etc.) I don't care what my produce looks like as long as it isn't spoiled.

Everyone that couldn't travel last year is going this year sinnce restrictions are dropping like crazy so it's just going to be nuts everywhere I think.

The only thing driving me nuts is just trying to find a new car. Not a huge rush for me, but short supply makes it difficult to even get a real look at vehicles I might be interested in. For shits and giggles, I tried to see what some dealers are selling stuff for and they want 10%+ over MSRP. I'm not that desperate to pad a dealership's bottom line when they would already be making bank selling at MSRP.
