How is ff12?

11 is the mmorpg, right?
so they aren't comparable.

anyhoo, I'd say it's better than X, but not my favorite FF. new "autplilot" system is really annoying, when added to all the licensing system, it's just too much to deal with for a console rpg. characters are much better than before--only one whiny emo jap pre-teen character to deal with this time. Unfortunately, it's the main character once again.. fortunately, you don't ever have to use him after ~ 5 hours into the game. which is nice. voice acting & script are very good, compared to the abyssmal voices & script for FF X.

I thought it was worse than X. The story was interesting, but I found the characters boring. I just didn't care about any of them. Also, the voice acting was annoying. The licensing system seemed like a retarded version of the sphere system, and the battles weren't nearly as fun. It just didn't seem as tactical.

Just my opinion.

What killed FF12 for me was the retarded license system. It basically seemed to make learning new skills and getting new equipment a 2-step process... I kept having to switch back and forth to see if any given character was licensed in some particular area before buying that new weapon/armor/whatever. PAIN IN THE ASS!!! Can't I just buy the damn mithril mail and be done with it? I spent more time trying to keep all that junk straight than playing the game. After a week, I put the disc back in its case and it's sat on my shelf ever since.

Oh, I did find Ashe insanely annoying as well. I wanted to punch her face in everytime she spoke.

With FFX, the only REALLY annoying thing was trying to dodge the lightning in the Thunder Plains 255 times to get that whatzit-thingie for whozit's ultimate weapon. Or something.

I liked it, the license system is weird at first, but once you get the hang of its, its interesting to have to manage all your LP to get everything you want.

The character development is really low though, probably because the game is going for a more global scale feel than what each of the other characters have to do with the story.

I think the farming system is ALOT easier this time around. Instead of wasting time going through that entire battle screen, you can just keep chaining guys over and over again. I still prefer the old system, but real time does have its merits.

Overall, a must buy for any RPG Fan/Ps2 owner

Either you are blessed with extraordinarily good luck, or you never attempted to unlock Tidus's ultimate weapon.

i only played it for about 30min, i couldent reverse the camera movement and that pissed me off

only FF that i never finished, excludeing 11 which was the MMO

^ exactly my feelings about X 🙂
I was hoping that annoying dude and that chick would be dead soon. In all fairness, I don't really care about any of the characters in these games anymore...

both of those...PITA. I gave up loooong time ago.

also stopped playing 12 after some 2 months, for almost a year. more than anything, the license system kills that game. I started playing again recently, but it is the first FF that I actually stopped playing. so that says something. They raped the combat system, which I had gotten quite used to.

HAHA I forgot about that. OK, THAT was more annoying than even the lightning dodging. It took about 100 tries, a lot of swearing and a broken controller (almost) but finally I caught a big slice of luck. I then resolved to NEVER try that again.

I didn't like X. Actually it was a love/hate thing...I liked the battle system a lot, and the story was good, the characters were engaging....but dear god. did I hate. everything else in the game. The stupid g&*^^%#$(*&#(*#$d temple puzzles were just annoying, time consuming, and frustrating, and it seemed to me like they wanted to make everything take a long time, just for the sake of it. Like...you couldn't skip the chatting scenes. So if there was a 5 minute story sequence before a boss, and you lost to the boss...tough luck, you have to sit around for 5 minutes again. And the one temple where you have to ride that stupid thing around on that weird track...seriously. I quit the game for 2 months at that point - even cheating with gamefaqs I didn't want to do it. I also didn't like the sphere system. Sure, its cool that you can customize your characters and all, but again....it just made things more time consuming.

The story and characters never really grabbed me, but I still love FFXII. I was pretty ho-hum about it for the first third or so of the game, but then the battle system just clicked for me and everything fell into place. I've never had so much fun grinding and doing missions.

Was that the chocobo race that you had to finish with a time of 0 seconds? I took me about an hour, but I remember finally beating that. I never bothered dodging the lightning; I have a slow reaction time.
