Moving soon, will lack a TV which is completely fine. I plan on building a desktop but still enjoy console gaming. So how does it compare? I think I might actually enjoy it more. Also any recommendations on monitors good for console and PC gaming?

I use a 20" Dell monitor and it is fine. The only minor thing is that the monitor is 16:10, not 16:9 so I have tiny black bars on the top and bottom. Really no big deal. Sound is also kind of bad coming from just the speakers on the monitor, but I mainly use headphones so it is no big deal.

i used this for years due to it having minimal input lag.

i played fighters and input lag on hdtv's is pretty bad for the most part, and since i got serious about it i picked up that monitor strictly for console gaming. worked wonders for it. i now use it for my pc in a dual monitor setup and it works fine there as well. i did pc game on it but only super street fighter iv, which looked fine on it.

it's also 16:9 so console games look normal and full screen on it.

the speakers on it are pretty weak though, but do the job.

That's like right in my wheelhouse for what I'm looking for. I've had Asus monitors before and loved them. I think 23" 16x9 seems perfect sized as well.

yeah i strongly recommend it for a console gaming monitor. if you search the net for it and input lag you will get tons and tons of hits, especially from fighting forums. it's known as the "evo monitor" in the fighting community, because it is what they use at all of the stations at the evo tournament, which is the biggest us fighting game tournament.

The only problem with using a monitor for console gaming is either no speakers or extremely weak ones. The Evo monitor is really good. It might not be the best, but Evo did let them sponsor them so they are very good.

You're going to notice how incredibly low-resolution supposedly "HD" games really are. Most run at 720p, with many dipping down to 640p. Sit as far back as possible! :p

I didn't know those monitors were in high regards. They have been around for ever.

i game on a 24 in monitor most of the time, i do better at FPSes sitting closer

I noticed this too. Ever since I switch to a computer monitor and therefore am sitting closer (not on a couch anymore) , I have much better results in shooter games. My aiming is better and I'm able to react faster. Maybe I just need to get a bigger TV for the living room so I can go back to the couch :p
