Because it's now Fall, I've been watching quite a bit of TV. During EVERY major TV or sporting event this year (Survivor, playoffs, EVERYTHING) I have seen the Intel P4 alien commericial. Say what you want guys, but you're kidding yourself if don't think Intel's marketing department was thrilled back in '96 when they came up with this long-pipleline design! In the real world, you cannot separate marketing and engineering.
Personally, I hope AMD's "third-party" benchmarking consortium launches soon so we can drop this Megahertz bologna all together. It's really only useful when comparing chips of the same brand and architecture, but that's not how it's perceived by the public.
