I dont get it. How can you be addicted to porn? I find somthing that interests me, 10 - 15 minutes later I X out and im good for a day. Does this guy seriously fap for hours at a time?

Maybe he's a tantric masturbator.

I don't know about porn ruining lives, but it has taken out more than a few tube socks throughout the years.

Real porn?
That's what I was wondering. Does that mean magazine porn, or actually hiring people to have sex in front of you, or what?

Although I guess if you're not choosy, there are plenty of folks that would bone in front of you for free :hmm:

Porn isn't the problem. People with compulsive and/or obsessive behavior is the root of the problem. It could be any number of vices. Internet porn didn't ruin his life, his behavior and cheating did.

While that is true, the second article discusses an important subject - how it is affecting younger people's emotional/sexual development. And I don't think it's reasonable to say that teenagers, who don't have the full emotional maturity to understand and recognize addiction and take steps to deal with it, should just simply be shamed and criticized for over-indulging and becoming addicted. That's just not realistic or effective.

I agree.

Understanding how the reward mechanisms work in our brain can give us agency over those mechanisms. I convinced my 6 year old son to eat his mushrooms by showing him the video below: knowledge can be power.

My parents smoked, I didn't. Not because they told me not to, but because school convinced me that it was dumb and disgusting.

We're miss-wired to think of that which is disgusting in our culture as that which is appropriately immoral: If we could think of self-stimulation, saturated fat, and a sedentary lifestyle as "dumb and disgusting" then we could overcome the top causes of depression, divorce, and death.

A pretty interesting article.

So, does internet porn have the potential to ruin lives? We know that when people watch porn they get a dopamine rush. Do it enough times and you have an addiction. With high speed access on our phones, tablets and computers it's no wonder that many people are probably addicted and don't even realize it.

http://thoughtcatalog.com/pierce-nahigyan/2015/11/how-pornography-is-changing-millennial-men/

Another article on how porn is affecting young men. It's basically turning them into betas. Thus would make sense since when you watch porn and masterbate the need to find a woman decreases significantly.

very legitimate points.
thanx for bringing this to the attention of those suffering the addiction

sex itself can be just as addicting. Why bash fapping vs. sex? In the end it's the same thing, one is just with someone else that's addicted.... Yet much like drugs vs. drinking, one is more socially accepted.

Don't get me wrong, before I started dating and such I was into some kinky porn. I knew women didn't moan in ecstasy the moment you shove something in - but I thought they were equally into it, heh... Good thing those dreams were crushed and reality set in for me.

You're clearly doing it wrong: which explains the above misunderstanding.

That's not true. You should check out "Your Brain on Porn."

http://yourbrainonporn.com/

Check out the brain study done on porn users. When a porn user starts to watch porn excessively their frontal lobes start to go thru a dramatic change. Addiction related brain changes occurs in men who are addicted to porn.

It's really a sign of how lazy kids are today.

When I grew up, we had to work to get porn. Planning was involved. Generally, someone would steal a Penthouse or something their dad had stashed in the closet and it would be passed around. A brother who was old enough to legally buy it was the solution on a few occasions. Around ages 16 or 17 there was the old guy at the convenience store who didn't give a damn and would sell them to a desperate young man....

but today? The weirdest most deviant shit you can imagine is only a calculated search and few clicks away.

Lazy ass generation; don't know how easy they have it. Makes me sick.

This older guy I knew had a video store in the late 90's. I'd visit and we'd talk about movies, etc.. The place was a dump. In the back and thru the curtains, were the porno tapes. He had everything from straight, shemale and gay. Anyway, I can still remember this priest who would come in often, and he would rent 4-5 porno tapes for the full week! I still remember this supposedly straight guy renting gay porno tapes. He told us that his girlfriend liked to watch that stuff. Yea right... :D

Now? You don't even have to leave the comfort of your own home. You got it all. Whatever your desires. After you get done masturbating, you can spend hours playing video games. Then it's back to masturbating.

What a life: Porn and video games. Yet, this is what many young and even older people do daily.

What do you expect when you try to deny yourself sex? It's kind of inevitable as a human necessity.

Literally anything you enjoy is giving you a dopamine rush. That is almost with out exception what it means to enjoy something. Like going to church? You are getting a dopamine rush and do it enough and you will get addicted. Like listening to music? Dopamine rush, do it enough times and you might start seeking out ion stabilized gold core Kevlar coated cables that are guaranteed to remove stray noise caused by cosmic background radiation.

How Cigarettes Ruined My Life

How Alcohol Ruined My Life

How Online Video Gaming Ruined My Life

How ATOT Ruined My Life

....at what point is the responsibility on everything *besides* the person with the shitty personality that can't control their obsessive behavior?

Sensationalist title with the blame placed on the wrong subject. Should have been called, "How I Ruined My Life With Internet Porn".

No no no no no.

When will you learn in life? When you have a problem in life, someone else caused it, not you. Poor? Rich people did it. You would be a complete success if it weren't for them. Alcoholic? It's the bartender's fault.
