probably don't have a cd player and have the internet? I don't know.

edit: theory B is they were stolen from a car and ditched cause they suck.

i agree that B is prob the correct answer. which is why the binder i keep in my car is all CDs ive burned. i keep the real ones at home and just make copies of them to use in the car

I'm sure it was thrown out because the person who owned it hadn't looked at it in 10 years and realized that all the bands you listed sucked balls and found he was ashamed that he even owned it.

Or the person who stole it was hoping that there'd be actual GOOD music in it and threw it out when he realized that all the music in it sucked balls and was completely worthless.

Probably doesn't have a cd player any more.

My music has been boxed in the garage for about 5 years now. Don't know if I would realized if it ever got tossed.

Someone threw out an entire CD binder full of great albums. I just got 200 CDs from bands like The Offspring, NOFX, No Use For a Name, Rise Against, Strung Out, Rancid, Less Than Jake and a whole lot more. This is going to take forever to copy onto my computer.

This person had nearly the same taste is music as I do, and you really have to be a collector for most of these albums. 7 of 8 is typically an actual album. Some are exact CD-R copies for the non-originals.

There is a rare version of The Offsprings "Ignition".

What the hell were these people thinking throwing it out?

I'd throw it all out. Since I would have a digital version of the albums, why keep them around?

Well, I'd probably try to give them away to someone first.

There's only two possibilities:

A) It's stolen
B) The owner died and the family didn't want to keep his music

happened to my parents once... someone smashed the window of their SUV and took all the cupholder spare change + cds. they found all the cds dumped on the side of the street a few houses up.

I was thinking this may be a quite the novel way to pirate music. No one can blame you for piracy if you just happen to throw it away for the next person to find.

Surely the RIAA will sue the owner for "making available" copyrighted material.

not as good as when I found porn tapes in a garbage bin behind the pizza shop I used to work at as a teen.

Spring cleaning. A hint to junior to move out is to come home to a bare room, "Where's my stuff!", "Not in our house anymore."

My friend is a proud dumpster diver, he visits universites right when winter or summer break happens. He's gotten me a ton of cool stuff, ipods with bad batteries, laptops with cracked screens, cameras, tons of lamps, music etc...He grabs clothing and stuff, too.
A lot of the electronic items are actually functional, sometimes in the original packaging. If it's not, I usually repair it if possible, and throw it up on ebay.

College kids leave a ton of stuff behind.

Yeah, it's one of these... ^^

I was going through a period of 'cleansing' back in my religious nut days and I threw out a load of amazing music.

I've slowly rebuilt my collection (beatles, who, Oasis, radiohead, bob dylan, etc).
Stupid fundamentalist churches :p

Lucky is the person who found my THICK binder.

I vote for Crazy GF or wife throwing out soon-to-be ex's treasured belongings.

Pretty cool find even if I've moved past listening to a lot of that stuff.

Surprises me how many people say they prefer digital completely to CD. I guess I'm old-fashioned. Most of my library (>90%) is digital, but I still keep the CDs. There's something about physically having it. Same reason I'll always buy DVDs/blu-rays even if we move to digital on that too.

I can't just leave Kim, it's not that simple. My CDs are in his truck.
