I just got a relay call from a hearing impared customer. Advised them that I would call them back in about 30 minutes. After I hung, I realized, I HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO MAKE A TDD CALL!!!

So anyone wanna fill me on how to do this in the future. I have their phone number, but what service to call to get them connect with me, etc. I'm such a moron. And I feel really badly for these people who have to put up with us "norms". :(

That should be included with your monthly phone service, for funding reasons. Contact your provider to check.

EDIT: The service is something that automatically routes based on the hearing impaired phone number. Try calling them, it should work fine. It's been a long time but a former brother inlaw had a hearing impaired mother.

I think it's possible that the number you got will route automatically to the TDD service, but call your phone company to check.

I tried to call the customer directly, but i got what sounded like modem handshaking (the TDD device) and then a recording about 20 secs after saying "Please use TDD, hearing impared customer." and repeats. Any other thoughts. FYI, I'm calling from a call center and they have NO procedure for this!! Do you believe that? ::sigh::

Call the operator and ask.

Don't have access to the operator in this call center. We get the call center's directory service. ;-P I might just go home and call the operator from there though. Good idea.

Chances are there is a phone somewhere in the building that you can get to that is not hooked in like the one you are on. Good luck.
