Getting tired of this now. Read something awhile back about a registry setting, tried it but never got it to work. Has anyone really done this successfully? I'm running W2K, UK version. Thanks... :)

Mountain,

If I remember correctly, there is a registry key that controls this. By default, you can only download 2 or 3 things simultaneously. With broadband, you can suck down much more information simultaneously. I don't know what the reg key is though, sorry Basse.

My limit in IE is four downloads. If I download four files at a time I can't even surf. With three files I can surf but only in one window. (this was on IE5 haven't tried in IE6, and I am on 100mbit internet connection)

I was just downloading some car mpegs. I can only get 2 simultaneously. If I try one more, it just stops at "getting file information" but proceeds to "Save as" as soon as one of the downloads is complete. There must be a way around this.

These are all from the same site though. Can it be set remotely from the server, I wonder?

It works if I add another download from another site, just tried it. This suggests that its limited to 2 simul. from the same site. There must be a fix for this. Anyone? I'm on a 2mbit connection so bandwidth is not a problem.

Thanks for your input :)

Thanks for the link ERJ! I will try the "sguide_webtweak_2k.zip" and post after a retart. This resembles the setting I read about earlier (now I know where that guy got his tip from;)), but it was posted in plain text here in the forums, maybe I got something wrong? Better to have a .reg file anyway. Wish me luck!

EDIT:By the way, I'm running IE version 5.00.2920.0000./EDIT

Basse,

Have you ever tried GoZilla(Download Manager)? It'll let you adjust how many downloads you can have going at the same time. What I really like about it, is that it will save download information and then allow you to download later, as many things as you like, while your doing something else(while your sleeping). It also supports broken downloads. If you get cut off it will resume where it left off, which is very nice when downloading large files. It also will check different sites for the same file and find the fastest download. And if there is a slowdown or problem at one site it will automatically switch to a different site.

I use it while I'm surfing and if I find something I want to download I click it, Gozilla opens, checks other sites for the same file, lists them from fastest to slowest. You then either click download now or download later. You can add as many downloads as you like and then you can Either manually start the download or set it to run at a certain time. Under options is where you set the number of downloads that you allow at one time. I usually keep it at two but have dowloaded as many as four at one time.

GoZilla is freeware/shareware. Free version has ads, but they don't bother me. There is also another program called GetRight that does the same thing.

Hey, what do you know, the darn thing worked!!! Now I can sleep at night. Thanks for the link ERJ :).

Von: I know about these programs, I've tested both of them. This was more of a "I-must-know-how-to-do-it" kind of thing. Thanks for the tip though! :D:D:D:D

EDIT: Regular pages loads alot faster now as well /EDIT

if the download stops at 2 from one particular site it probably means that that site is limiting you to 2 downloads not ie.
