How important is L2 Cache??

It's a couple of months old but the results surprise me. I always thought that for some things like gaming and video encoding L2 makes a huge difference. Video encoding being the most important CPU intensive process I do.

Did I just waste $15 going with a Sempron 3100 rather than a Semp 3000??

Yea, I am sure that $15 is going to send you into financial ruin. While it doesn't make a huge difference, it is a positive difference.

classy is defintiely right. It's worth 15 bucks and it's not like it's gonna make you file for bankruptcy:shocked:

there might be a chance that the 256k cache versions overclock better due to some speed binning so it's probably not a waste
