how important is it that a case have front USB 3.0 ports?

not sure how prevalent USB 3.0 devices will be. most peripherals aside from storage devices (HDD's, flash drives, etc) don't need all that bandwidth.

i can always get a USB 3.0 card and hook it up to an open PCI slot.

should front USB ports be an important factor in choosing a case when building a system these days?

For me, front USB 3.0 is a non-issue since I don't own any USB 3.0 hardware...and my motherboard has rear USB 3.0 ports should I need them.

Non issue for me as well (at least right now). Anything that I'm likely to purchase that would need the performance of USB 3.0 would probably be stationary anyhow.

Front panel USB ports (any flavor) are of very little importance to me. I use a desktop 7 port powered hub. My "desktop" is really a floortop, under the desk. When USB becomes a de facto standard, then I will upgrade the whole system including the 7 port hub. 🙂

Fixed that one for ya Corky. Got ya covered 😉.

No reason why all cases manufactured from 2011 on should not have USB 3.0. The case manufacturers need to update their products. Just my opinion.

Would not mind if they are there, but I also use a powered USB Hub .. much more convenient to keep it on the desktop and easier to plug things into and out of.
