For my field (science/ pharmaceuticals) GPA does not really matter aside for getting you into post-grad schools, and even then it isn't a definite obsticle, have good GRE, recommendations)

Unless you have a really high gpa (like 3.5+), no one is going to care. My GF has a masters in Mol Bio. and I have a BS. She was valadictorian of HS, and (should have been) summa cum laude in college, while I screwed around alot (um..cough..weed...:) ) and have a mediocre gpa.

she gets some attention bc of the "valadictorian" but after that no one cares. People want to know about lab experience, and grades never comes up. I just graduated, and in 2 yrs people will care even less. The thing we have (and which you don't, you're kinda screwed....) is good experience. I worked in a lab on campus fro 1.5 yrs, and she was a grad student.

I have no idea what an IR major does, but try to find -something- to give you any experience before you leave or you will have a tough time (and doesn't have to be something flashy, just something to catch the eye and to ask about and show some skills)

PS: some of the biggest twits I have met have high GPA's and I know plenty of brillant people with low gpa's. It really doesn't mean jack.

<< this is true, but only if you are in a situation where experience is completely leveled out with someone else. which i think is possible but very rare, (course depending on the field)

danny~!

Say they both just got out of college..the chances are pretty high that neither would have experience..and it's more prevalent in some fields than others of course.

Why do some people sign their posts like that? :)
