I guess you got lucky.. I have seen some generic RAM that won't even run at close to 140 FSB (PC133 RAM). SO yes, RAM is quite important when into overclocking because some generic PC100 sure as hell won't run at 143 FSB like some sticks of high quality RAM you can buy that will easily run over 150 MHz.
Here`s a good example... I just did some test on my P3 700e @1120mhz 1.85 volts thats at 160mhz fsb and this was done with 1 stick of Kingmax PC150 (128meg) & 2-64meg Samsung GH (PC100) on my CUSL2 with ram timings at 3-2-2-7,9 the name of the game is quality ram or get very lucky with generic stuff... Ram is cheap now so buy the good stuff like Mushkin Rev.2 I am as of tomorrow...
Hehehehe I know this sounds unreal but its true & could`nt belive my own eye`s... Just started jacking around with the voltage (did not know the voltage on the vcore did not set till after the HD had been recognized???) That Samsung GH had cost me plenty quite a while back but damn it is still struting its stuff (Ga-Ga-Goo)...
