How hot is your cpu running?

A cool 71F/22C here. Of course, I got my side panel off and a deskfan blowing into it. Normally around 80F though, still not bad. Have a T-Bird 900 @ 990 (so far...).

I have a T-Bird 800@1000 getting around 45c under full load with a POS Vantec HSF and no case fans, gonna pick up 3 panaflows and a Taisol soon tho....hoping to get down to around 35c under full load...

At 1.87v, I get around 32 C. idle and 35 C. stressed. At 1.77v (a little unstable), I get around 30 C. idle and 33 C. stressed. I occasionally open the side panel of my case, open a window, and stick the case there.. When it's around 49 F. outside, I get 14 C. idle and 15 C. stressed.

30 C, uptime 4 days, RC5 running on backround as a daemon all the time. It's K6-2+ with standard cooler. No extra fans anywhere inside the box (no need for them either).

priit,

nice sig!!! 😎

my system:

duron 700@900
asus a7v 1004c

air cooled with a globalwin fop38 ( thermal pad ), 1 intake fan, and 1 exhaust fan in an enlight case.

43c idle, 47c load

my first system:

80286
640kb ram
cga monitor
cga video card
dos 5.0 ( not even windows 3.0, but i had the games, nibbles and gorilla, to entertain me! )
1.2mb fdd,1.44mb fdd
huge 40mb hdd
no mouse

My system:

inwin q500 full tower case
asus cusl2 m.b.
p3 700 overclocked to 1085mhz with w.c.and a 72wattpelt-42f
mushkin cas2 128mb ram
seagate ultra 160 15,000rpm x15 18gig h.d.
adaptec 29160 contoller
plextor ultraplexwide 40x cd-rom drive
plextor plexwriter 12/4/32 burner
asus v7700 64meg gts-2 video card
sound blaster live sound card
3com 905b nic
sony e400 19" flat screen monitor

Duron 700 @ 950, 1.775/1.8 V settings on ASUS A7V 1.02

45 C max load

seems like a kinda crappy core, has FOP38 on it, pretty warm

To Everyone with a Socket A setup.

what mb
What MB Bios revision
What are you using to load your cpu
Where is the thermistor in comparison to the cpu
What program are you using to read the temp?

THere are too many accuracy problems with socket A setups. Anandtech Socket A discussion. The anandtech cooling review perfectly illustrates this because there is NO way that a c-orb performs within 2C of a pal6035. Take any socket A reading with a huge grain of salt, and try to just read them as an approximation of what your cpu temp MAY be.

Mike

On my ABIT KT7 using the UL BIOS and a Vantec socket A cooler w/AOS thermal compound:

(using VIA hardware monitor)

Current CPU temp - 45C
Current case temp - 30C

After running Quake 3 Arena for an hour:

CPU temp - 48C
Case temp - 32C

Case temp changes at night because I turn down the heat in my apartment after going to bed. I've seen the case temp go as low as 23C, and the CPU go as low as 36C.

I took the thermal diode from underneath my Thunderbird and bent it down as far as I could then I placed thermal resistive tape over the diode. I then hacked the voltage for the Thunderbird to go to 2.5V and set the speed to 1.35GHz. I'm still at an amazing 22 degrees C!

Duh... why is that? Could it be because all Socket A motherboards have a very inaccurate off die thermal probe? By George I think I've got it!

mine's a bit unusual here. i got a tbird 800 running on all default settings, but my my current cpu temperature is reaching as high as 58C right now!!! i know this is really extreme, and i've been thinking about replacing the existinng hsf as soon as possible. what do you guys think?

I have an Abit KT-7 Raid
Beta UZ bios
Using MBProbe
I have 2 radio shack gamma 28 fans blowing from the side onto a coolermaster hs/fan.

36c idle
41c under load from hours of UT/Rune

Without the Gamma fans my temps rise about 7-8C

Duron 600@980 1.85v

I love my gamma fans.

AdamK47 - 3DS,

Please go to the thread in my sig, and talk to tillman. He clearly believes the off die thermistor is so close to diode temp that heatsink comparisons can be done(ie the Anandtech Heatsink review).

Mike
P.S. His temps are so far off, that at best, the c-orb is running at best with a core temp of 58C, 11C off his measurement.

Zedfu: Try removing your heatsink and turning it around 180 degrees. Many of the Socket A heatsinks must be installed in a certain direction in order to make a good enough contact with the core to be effective.

p.s. You ARE using thermal paste, aren't you? 😎

well, if the HSF was installed 180 degrees off, it most likely would have cracked the DIE. Then again, if just enough of the edge of the heatsink was sitting on the socket, then it may not have.

t-bird 750@1100 on a A7V bios 1004a my thermal sensor has the plastic tip cut off and is taped up so it is touching the edge of the core of my cpu Im useing the asus software to read the temps and after running seti for hours the temps are motherboard 28c and cpu 48c
