How hot is the hottest an XP 2100 + can go before it melts or cracks or whatever

I pushed mine to the limit about 4 months ago, i just wanna hear a few guesses before i disclose the highest temp i achieved.

and i am still running my computer on it now....how about that

i got mine up to 117 degrees C and it is still working now...although there is a little burn mark on the bottom of it, it still works, maybe that is some sort of record or something

didnt mean to...being the dumbass i was, i built my computer in a hurry and forgot to put on thermal paste...about 8 months later, it starts crashing any time i start running any program that utilizes the CPU much...took me forever to figure out it was overheating....so i took off the heatsink, and i then saw that there was absolutely no thermal paste at all...i take out the CPU to look at it, and there is a burn mark all over the bottom of it, in the center where the pins are not located...i put on some arctic silver ceramique and then after that, it was running fine again (comparatively)...runs a little slower than a xp 2100+ should, plus also always sits around 55 degrees C, which i think is pretty high still

I never rush putting a computer together. 🙂

How about quit making sh!t up. Your first quote show you are full of BS because you say your CPU currently sits around 55C. At the same time you saying you are "still" running your computer on the highest temp you achieved.

BTW it is not an achievement to run a CPU hot. Any turd can do that. The real achievement is keeping it as cool and stable as possible with a high overclock.

im not saying im still running it at 117 degrees...im at 55 now....52.6 right this second to be exact, and i havent played any games or used any graphics intesne programs in over 24 hours...so when i do that, it jumps even more, so dnuggett, learn about what you are talking about before you start acusing people of lying.

dumbass.

BTW, i didnt mean to do this, it was on accident, i just thought it ironic that it has a big burn mark on it and it still runs

well, perhaps it did...but there was absolutely no grease on it before...whatever it was, something fixed the problem, but it still runs hot, but at least it is usable now

Dumbass, heh? Now we are busting out the name calling, how cute. I'll start taking advice from you when you stop calling almost frying a processor an achievement. No need for the name calling... but I understand how you could be frustrated. 🙂

"any turd can do that"

I don't know why but i forsee a lock in this threads future now

I agree.... lock this sucker down and throw away the key. Redass sorry for crapping in your thread..... it was just oh so tempting. I'll learn next time to just leave these type alone.

The moral of the story is two fold:

1.) Take your time when building a new system.

2.) Don't drink alot of beer before building a new system.

Was what he wrote really that hard to comprehend ? 😕
When he said hes still running it, I took that as he meant the cpu survived 115 without grease, and is still running, but with the grease now...
