How hot does your GeForce2 Pro get?

Just putting a new system together. TBird 1.33GHz, Iwill KK266-R, dual WD 20 Gig ATA-100 drives, WinMe, 300W power supply, NIC, onboard sound. Using Leadtek GeForce2 Pro. All components running at stock voltages and clock speeds. GeForce drivers are from Leadtek's own download site and are the latest drivers.

While running 3D apps the back surface of the video chip will get hot and then stay that way. Leadtek's own software monitoring utility tells me the chip is reaching temps of 50C.! My own Raytek laser thermal probe cooroborates these temps of up to 49C. on the back of the chip of the surface of the PCB.

The system seems to lock up and crash to desktop in some situations. Most notably while running 3D Mark 2001 and I wonder if heat is the culprit. I have added a fan directly on the video card and it, interestingly enough, does not seem to lower the temp of the vid chip nor solve the problem. I am using the stock fan supplied by Leadtek and have not modified the card in any way. In fact, I am looking for stability and not performance as this system is built for a friend without much computer knowledge.

So....how hot do your GeForce2 Pro cards get?

Bump....Just checked temperature again. After running looping demo of 3D Mark 2001 the back of the GeForce chip was 62C., wow.....
