How High Does Your Socket A Cpu Overclock

[Scope]

Hey,
I have the chance to get a Socket A T-bird 800 and I was wondering how high I could overclock this puppy. I'm going to get a Fop32-1. I already have a SlotA k7 500@700 so unless I have a very good chance of hitting 1000-1100 I'm not gonna bother. If you know of any sites that have a record of this info please post in your reply. Thanks.

From everything I've read you should be able to hit your target range with no problem. From personal experience I can tell you I had a Duron 600 that peaked out at 900MHz. I now have a Duron 700 running at 1083MHz.

I am going to have to disagree with the other post on the overclockability of the TBird 800. I have one, did the pencil trick, and I cannot get more than a 10% overclock-880mhz for the mathmatically challenged.
I have played with voltage, FSB and multiplier. I have the Abit KT7 Raid. Latest bios and even a chrome obr-temperature is not a problem. That, and my computer is in a cold basement in Colorado with snow on the ground.
Did I get my point across?
I have been sucessful with my other computer, almost an identical setup and that 700mhz TBird (bridges uncut too) is running at 893 mhz without a problem.

My 850 is running 1Ghz. Its been great, rock stable. I can imagine it going 1050 with loctite/defogger kit.

Greg: I had problems running at 950 or even 900 before with mediocre cooling and with the pink bubblegum compound that comes with the Chrome Orb. I quickly replaced the heatsink with this Hedgehog and used some Artic Silver and found it running 8 degrees cooler than before. I suggest for you to get at least an Alpha 6035 or a Taisol and most definately get thermal compound. The problem with the Kt133 boards is the CPU temp, its very inaccurate since the thermal probe is measuring the air temperature under the CPU instead of the CORE. The Tbird is a really hot chip, and even with a cool room temperature, it shoots up plenty of heat even at a default speed. Besides, the Chrome Orb was not made to support 1-1.2Ghz Tbirds(in which would give off similar amount of heat of an overclocked 800@900)

greg, it's possible that your pencil bridging is faulty. remember, graphite is not meant to conduce. try a conductive pen or the window defogger repair kit to see how high you can get it going. do a search for loctite in this forum and follow the turorial posted by Vpham97 if you're willing to put forth the effort.

my tbird 800 overclocked to 900 using FSB adjustments alone, so i would be surprised if it overclocks 1000+ using multiplier adjustments.

Got my 1GHz at 1162 right now. Tetsuo, what were the settings you used to get 1230?

I have 4 durons that run 960-1080.

Two were 600s and two were 700s.
