If i remember correctly from our conclusions in the massive battlefield 2 thread.

Change Textures to medium and sounds to medium (yes reducing this does effect the memory footprint significantly), and you should stay under 1GB.

Everything else can be cranked to the ceiling.

I think it would be a better idea to just get 2GB of RAM rather than reduce the settings, it will be needed soon anyway and come on, you can get a GOOD GB of ram for $60-70 now, and good 2GB for $150 or so.

I agree, but he wont have ram when he gets the card even if he decides to get more immediatly.

I've had a very similar setup. 1280x1024 4xSSAA with everything high in NVIDIA control panel (except mipmaps=Quality). Everything high in BF2 settings except texture quality (2 GB RAM desired for texture quality high). After you get 2 GB of RAM, set texture quality to high. This is with VSync/triple buffering on, 4x AA in BF2, at supersampling set in Transparent AA options in NVIDIA control panel. VSync off makes me want to bludgeon my head against the wall. Anyhow I average about 50-60 FPS with those settings.

Umm Run the game and find what settings it lets you play at acceptably... more than likely at 1280x1024 you will be able to max everything out. so just put everything on as high as it can go then back down from there.

NFW he can do 1600x1200 with everything on high unless he wants a slide show. Look at my machine specs in my sig. No offense to the OP, but my PC is obviously going to be quite a bit faster (not overclocked) than his, especially since BF2 is very GPU intensive.

BF2 automatically sets your system up for best overall quality and performance. My system defaults to all SETTINGS ON HIGH AT 1024X768, so there is NFW he can run 1600x1200 with a 3700+ and a 7800GT.

videogames101 I would ditch that Valueram and get a decent 2GB (1024MBx2) dual channel kit, or else you 512MBx4 will default to DDR333, probably at 2T. DDR333 is bad enough, but adding 2T Command Rate on top of DDR333 will slow down your system too much.

Dude, I run (w/ system in sig) BF2 with TSAA, 4xAA 1680x1050 all with an average of 75fps (fraps) and often it hovers at 80 or 90.

Dude, he is running a 7800GT, has 1.5GB of RAM (he said heMight get another stick or 2 of ram(512). Less important, but maybe worth a few frames he is running a 3700+ at stock speeds. do you really think that his 7800GT (at 505/1250) compares to your 7800GTX (at 490/1380)? Tests have shown pretty conclusively that the 256MB 7800s' benefit from memory bumps more than core increases, wouldn't you agree?

The guys is only running 12x10, so the 16x12 is only theoretical, but eveyone telling him 16x12 with everything on high is on the optimistic side. Especially when he signs-on to a full 64-player server like you. Do you think your OC'ed X2 doesn't help you out there?
