I still do not see how you guys mean "very" or "radical leftist".
I mean, Harvey? The dude seems to not like Bush. And uses emoticons a lot. So? How is this radical leftist?
You guys exaggerate way too much. I was all enthused that there were fellow left-of-center types for the new guy to hang with.
Maybe radical leftist means the person REALLY does not like the opposite political party? I do not get this thread.

the forums were here before fubartalk, fubartalk has been the forums since october of 1999, and p&n was split out of OT in 02 or 03 maybe?

P&N split from OT in early 02. IIRC, because of all the 9/11 threads.

No Harvy loves Bush.
We suspect he actually voted for McCain.
Very centristic and middle of the road. Hard to tell where he stands most of the time.
He has had a special bigot icon created though.

Get back to me when people here are rationally discussing Marxist theory, whether Trotsky was a traitor to the revolution, planning civil disobedience, sign up sheets to volunteer for food not bombs or something.
This forum is centrist as hell folks. This claim that you have radical leftists is beyond silly.
You guys do have quite a glut of radical righties though I could see stuffing envelopes full of anthrax in their spare time.

It USED to be somewhat centrist but somewhere right around mid 2K4 it took a hard left. It's moderated a bit from it's peak loony leftistness (likely due to the great unbanning) but it's still very much left wing here.

IMO the shift here follows what you see in society and after 2000-2008 who can blame them.

lol, no - not even close. "normal" people don't come here. This is "tech" forum which limits it's reflection then add on the P&N part and it makes it even less like American society.

To those of you who have been around P&N for a while..how have the discussions on P&N evolved the past few years? Or is it really just the same nonsense now as always?

Howdy ol' timer ;) glad to see you alive and kicking. I think the discussion level is fairly robust these days and things have slid closer to the center (like me!). Still, things never really change all that much, and a thread or two still manages to degenerate into name/mud-slinging partisan brawls.

I think the Bush administration pushed a fair amount of posters from the right to the center.

Heh, this is about the only thread that hasn't broken down into name calling. We're definitely hanging way out on the left though.

Good point. I might very well have voted for McCain if not for Bush proving the formula of ?moderate?, ?compassionate?, aka big government Republican a disaster. I won?t vote for any of them who think it?s a good idea to reach across the isle and pick up abuse of government spending and power.

So you could say Bush taught me to beware of the party I identify with the most. Didn?t really change my ideology though, merely proved that there are fewer who believe in conservatism than I first thought.

AT has been around since 96/97 when Anand was 14.

I remember those days - back when it was just a tech site and I actually visited the main page instead of the forums.

Shame it didn't stay that way.

Says the guy with '2012 Anyone but Obama' in his sig when he's 2 months from taking office? A grain of salt is too much dude.

Pulling numbers out of my hat, I'm going to say that 50% of the people on this forum are lefties, maybe 30% moderates, most leaning to the left; and perhaps 20% are conservatives. This isn't a hardcore radical left forum, but the posters here are definitely quite liberal.

I participate because this forum is here, however I would have rather this forum never come into existence, especially given the circumstances which surrounded its creation and the flood of lib whackjobs such as yourself that shout down dissenting viewpoints.

I'd say 80% of this forum voted(or would have) voted for Obama which is a good bit higher than the national average. Overall this forum leans to the left.

Okay, well perhaps that's just my hopeful optimism white-washing the place down. Heh. :D

I bet there are quite a few people like myself found this place because of a Google linked P&N thread and not because of any technical query. While I consider myself as being someone that is up on technology, I don't find discussing it in person, or on a forum for that matter, to be something I consider fun. This is where the action is at ;)

That's a dumb ass question. Why wouldn't you buy your wife boobs makes more sense.

No! You buy your girlfriend boobs. Putting big boobs on your wife just makes her a bitch who now has big tits. She is still, a bitch. :)
