I am wondering to see how you guys like your Dfi's or your Msi's, plz tell me how they perform and how the stability is at stock speeds, and if you have encountered any problems 🙂 Thank you!
 
Built my new DFI nF4 Ultra-D system last week. Been running flawlessly (other than a little temporary weirdness with Realtek audio drivers and the headphone jack) after a totally trouble-free build (my first ever).

I couldn't be more pleased with it. (and thanks to these forums and Anandtech in general, which I've been reading religiously for upwards of 6 months, researching the best bits to buy for the bucks!)
 
Just built this system:

DFI nF4 Ultra-D
Winch 3500+ Stock HSF/AS5
Corsair Value Ram (2x512) @2.7v slots 2+4
ATI x800xl
Raptor 36
OCZ Modstream 450

This machine fired right up first try no hiccups with the 1/25 factory bios (now it's 3/10). The DFI is super nice. Great capacitors, heatsinks on the mofsets, and bios features that are the best of any board I've seen. Couldn't be more impressed....

Athlon 64 3000+ @ 2.25 ghz 1.57 vcore (GRRRR Cbbid 05.........you know the rest🙁 )
2 x 256 mushkin (bh-6) @ 2-2-2-7 250 mhz (3.4vdimm)
Evga PCIe 6800GT (soon to be overclocked🙂 )
74 gig wd Raptor (I have finally seen the light, and decided that raid 0 provides NO benefits for me)
80 gig seagate (backup, music drive)
2 x cooler master cool drive 3
1 x cooler master aerogate
Soho server case with floppy and hard drive rails knocked out (it looks damn good that way)


Anyhow, I slipstreamed windows, and got it installed very easily. My only problem was adjusting to the htt, ldt, and various other new items in the bios.
 
I have had nothing but problems with MSIs (6 motherboards, 5 DOA, the 6th the integrated lan is dead) coicidentally they are all also SiS chipsets though.

So im not sure which was the problem 😛
 
My MSI build has been flawless, not one BSOD, no compatibility issued, system worked the first time I pushed the power button and has been going strong since.
 
I've had my ultra-d for about a month now, and no problems whatsoever. My specs are in my signature, but I might be getting some performance ram.

You can't really go wrong with msi or dfi
 
Wow thank you guys for you replies so much, I guess both motherboards are good and it wont matter on what i get. Thank you guys a lot for posting your stuff and im glad most of your guys motherboards are working great 🙂
 
I've had the Neo4 for many weeks now and it's been great for the most part, very stable, good OCing, no initial setup issues, powered on and booted right up the first time. I *am* switching to the DFI, however, mostly because the Neo4 has a low max VDimm setting (2.85) and I can't make my RAM really get up and dance with that amount of juice. I'd rather just sell the board than try to vmod it. Bottom line, The MSI does perform well, but I want a more tweakable board. That board should arrive tomorrow 😉
 
I have an Ultra-D with a 3200+ at 2.6 with my VX at 2-2-2-7 1:1 3.5 vDimm. I just really do love Winbond UTT memory chips. My friend has some of the TwinMOS stuff at 255 and 2-2-2-7. I think I should have saved $150 and got some myself I think. I guess speedbinning and a heatspreader are just that worth that much more money huh? Painman--You know you can just get OCZ RAMBoosters to feed your RAM if you don't want to switch motherboards. That may be more expensive than reselling and buying the DFI though. If you do go for an Ultra-D/SLI-DR, I wish you luck, as some people have complained about their Karajan modules being defective and some other physical defects on some of DFI's boards. Good luck either way.
 
My DFI board is running alright, just has issues with my ram. However, DFI has been good. I sent my ram to one of their support guys, and he is going to test it himself.

I have never used an MSI board myself, but I have build comps for people with MSI boards. Out of the three comps I've build with MSI boards, two have had bad boards. They have some serious quality control issues.

I looked into the OCZ RAM booster, it's not compatible with Neo4 🙁 and it's kinda kludgy looking anyway... I keep a very clean PC and its wiring setup just looks godawful. Vmodding, I'd have to buy an appropriate soldering iron and get a soldering heatsink too, I've never soldered anything that small and delicate before and I think I'll try all that out on something cheaper than a month old mobo. DFI's already on its way, so I'm crossing my fingers on the board getting here in one piece!

I think they've gotten better with recent boards. Mine works great, they're now using all Japanese caps, it just has some BIOS limitations I don't like.

EDIT: I'll let y'all know if I see any OC improvements with the DFI 🙂
