How hard is it to start a radio station?

Just had a great idea, but I need to know just how much financial backing and paperwork you need to start one. Anyone?

A lot, considering that AFAIK all frequencies are currently in use.

Beyond the massive infrasture requried, I think it'd be pretty hard to get a chunk of frequency from the FCC these days.....they're quite full and quite strict

AM radio is not that expensive. I have a few friends who run their own AM band stations.

Just start a priate radio station at first. The hard part is getting listeners.

Unless you've got a ton of money and time, it's a major pain if you're talking about a standard commercial station. Last I heard the FCC was revising laws concerning low-power stations, so you might check into that. It's a long shot, but it's probably your only chance.
