How hard is it to smash a building with a plane?

Outta curiosity, how hard is it to aim a big ass plane into a smallish target like a building?

Like, is it as hard as driving a car? My RX-8 is pretty maneuverable, and I can pretty much point it in any direction, and it instantly goes. I'm sure I can smash a building with it, with ease. Is it the same with a jumbo jet?

I always imagined you'd have to start aiming from miles away to really pinpoint a building, or have military-like training to be as precise as past attempts were.

What is the minimum amount of feet it would take to pinpoint a building with a jumbo jet? 😕

its different from driving a car. no minimum amount of feet required since acceleration and decceleration is done by hand. by hand, Jerry!

For the WTC towers, it's a bit easier. You could program the flight controls to take you right to the buildings and only have to make the final small adjustment yourself.

For the Pentagon it's a little tougher because of the ground level.

The problem would be getting used to the relatively sluggish movements compared to a car.

I don't think it would be very hard mid-flight, like the WTC, as long as you knew the basics of how to fly an airplane. Especially with such large, obvious targets. Both planes hit very accurately.

I think they did mess up on the Pentagon a bit - they did major damage, but I'm sure their goal was a more direct, in the middle hit rather than what happened.

How does the degree of difficulty compare to maneuverering straight down a trench and skimming the surface to this point. The target area is only two meters wide. It's a small thermal exhaust port, right below the main port. The shaft leads directly to the reactor system. A precise hit will start a chain reaction which should destroy the station. Only a precise hit will set off a chain reaction.

I knew this was coming sooner or later.

WTF?

But no, it's not exactly difficult. Of course, large jets can't turn on a dime, so yes, it'll take some time to setup (partially also because you'll be moving at a pretty decent speed).

It's such a ridiculous question that's almost like asking how hard is it to land on a runway... when competent pilots can do it without problem (without navigation assistance).

lol, that's not a bad idea. I always figured they'd block crashes or something.

Did you think they'd remove the building from the game the instant you aimed your plane at a building? Even if there was no actual collision, you don't think you'd be able to tell when you were right in front of a building?
