How hard is it to RMA a ASUS board?

its not too bad. The trick is to talk to them by phone. I'm an california, and I edned up talking to one of their engineers in their service dept, who walked me through all the usual trouble-shooting junk and ended up agreeing that the board was bad and gave me an RMA number.
 
its not hard to get rma but getting it back is hard, it takes 2 months to be sent back, I can go to ABIt and get RMA on the spot.
 
Wow, they RMA it no problem. I just hope it gets back soon because this is in one of my systems.
 
You need to call customer service. I e-mailed them a month ago and got no response.

Over the phone, they gave me an RMA number even though I couldn't supply the serial number of the board (I was at work). Problem is, I am on a Navy base in Japan and they don't ship U.S. Mail, so I have to have the replacement board shipped to a US address and forwarded to me (what a bummer!).

And I don't have my hopes up on getting a replacement board fast. This is a rare A7V133, Rev. 1.05, with RAID, and I'm gonna insist they replace it with the same board that is supposed to accepts XPs (wish me luck). They better not send me an A7V133-C with no RAID.

Heck, by the time I get the board back, the XP1600 I bought 3 months ago will be passe and down to 700 Duron status. Never could get an OS installed with the chip (boot fine but floppy port problem).
